Preparation Prepare 16 bars of a song in the style of the show. Bring sheet music; an accompanist provided. If you are auditioning for a role that plays an instrument please also bring instrument and prepare a short piece in the style to demonstrate your skill set.

NOTE FROM CREATIVE: Musically the piece is eclectic and ambitious, encompassing Romantic, modern and avant-garde classical music, Russian folk, indie rock, jazz and electronica. The vocal style should be unique, soulful, idiosyncratic and decidedly un-Broadway.

ENSEMBLE/ACCORDION PLAYER Male or Female. Any Ethnicity. 20s-50s. Encompassing all of Russian society, from rustic villagers to aristocratic opera attendees. Must be excellent singer and mover, and be very comfortable with audience interaction/no fourth wall. Fun and wild. Also must be an excellent accordion player.
ENSEMBLE/CLARINET PLAYER Male or Female. Any Ethnicity. 20s-50s. Encompassing all of Russian society, from rustic villagers to aristocratic opera attendees. Must be excellent singer and mover, and be very comfortable with audience interaction/no fourth wall. Fun and wild. Also must be an excellent clarinet player.
ENSEMBLE/VIOLIN PLAYER Male or Female. Any Ethnicity. 20s-50s. Encompassing all of Russian society, from rustic villagers to aristocratic opera attendees. Must be excellent singer and mover, and be very comfortable with audience interaction/no fourth wall. Fun and wild. Also must be an excellent violin player.
ENSEMBLE/VIOLA PLAYER Male or Female. Any Ethnicity. 20s-50s. Encompassing all of Russian society, from rustic villagers to aristocratic opera attendees. Must be excellent singer and mover, and be very comfortable with audience interaction/no fourth wall. Fun and wild. Also must be an excellent viola player.
FEMALE OFFSTAGE SWING/INSTRUMENT UNDERSTUDY Female. Any Ethnicity. Early 20s. Encompassing all of Russian society, from rustic villagers to aristocratic opera attendees. Must be excellent singer and mover, and be very comfortable with audience interaction/no fourth wall. Fun and wild. This offstage track will also help cover the ensemble instruments, and must play at least the violin or viola, and possibly the accordion or clarinet.

MALE OFFSTAGE SWING/PRINCE ANDREY & OLD PRINCE BOLKONSKY UNDERSTUDY Male. Any Ethnicity. 30s-40s. Encompassing all of Russian society, from rustic villagers to aristocratic opera attendees. Must be excellent singer and mover, and be very comfortable with audience interaction/no fourth wall. Fun and wild. This Offstage track will also cover the principal role of [PRINCE AUDREY & OLD PRINCE BOLKONSKY]: Male. Early 30s to 40's. Actor double cast as father and son. Son, Prince Andrey, is the finest catch in all of Russia. An incredibly handsome and noble officer, very serious, a little gloomy after his years at war and his difficult family. Old before his time, and carrying a weight on his heart and mind. A touch of bitterness undercuts his nobility. Father is a conservative, old-fashioned aristocrat whose dementia has causes him to be alternately nasty and incapacitated. Lives with his still unmarried daughter, whom he torments but also relies on to take care of him. Plays guitar and a bit of drums. Baritone (Andrey)/Growly Baritone-Tenor (Bolokonsky) (G2-Eb4).
