Matron/The Woman - mid 30's; Matron - prim, chilly. Formidabale. The Woman - mysterious, tortured.
Orderly/Moriarty/Inspector - the Orderly is Cockney; Moriarty mid 60's…deep, menacing; Inspector - menacing, mutton-chopped.
Holmes 1/Signor Fonseca - tall, thin, angular; the most acerbic Holmes;
Holmes 2 - tall, thin, angular - the most anxious Holmes;
Holmes 3/The Client - tall, thin, angular - the most impenetrable Holmes.

Present day; big city high school.
Nya - Black woman mid-late 30's. Single mother; Public H.S teacher. A good teacher in a stressed environment; strong but burnt out. Holding on.
Omari - Black man, late teens. Smart and astute. Rage without release yet tender and honest at his core. Nya's son.
Jasmine - Black or Latina woman, late teens. Sensitive and tough with a sharp bite and soft smile.
Xavier - Black man, late 30's. Nya's ex. Omari's father. Single father struggling to connect with his son. Marketing exec. Financially stable - emotionally impoverished.
Laurie - White woman, 50's. Pistol of a woman. Teacher in public HS -- and can hold her own with tough students in a stressed evironment. A don't mess with me person.
Dun - Black man, early-mid 30's. Public HS security guard. Fit and optimistic. Charismatic; genuine and thoughtful. Trying hard in a rough place.

Torval - 50's emotionally reserved, but much simmering underneath; conventional by nature, but has learned to adapt as necessary.
Anne Marie - 60's or older, kindly but not a pushover, old-fashioned. Has opinions.
Emmy - - early 20'smature, self-posessed, clever.

Penny - mid-late 30's. Farm wife but raised in town; harried, always doing a millon things at once. Anxious they could lose their family farm; cheery on the outside. Mother of 2 - 12 year old daughter and 16 year old son.
Mike - late 30's. Farmer - 3rd generation. Prideful. Not a big communicator. Loves his family.
Johnny - 60's. African American. Also farms. Lives down the road. Easy going - see it all before and survived.

Production will be cast non-traditionally; Actors of all ethnicities will be considered for any role.
Penelope Sycamore - 50's gentle, homey; writes and paints because it makes her happy -- awful at both.
Paul Sycamore - 50's husband to Penelope; a tinkerer. Makes fireworks in the basement.
Essie Carmichael - 29-ish. daughter of the house, dreams of being a ballerina and is a terrible dancer.
Rheba -- 30's; cook to the family and treated as a member of the family.
Martin Vanderhof - 75 grandpa; eccentric, happy old man; retired to relax. Doesn't pay income tax - attends the circus and commencments, throws darts and collects stamps.
Mr. De Pinna - an ice man who came to the house and never left. Assists with the fireworks.
