HANK WILLIAMS: LOST HIGHWAY
HANK WILLIAMS (Male, 25-30, Tenor/Baritone, Guitarist): CAST
The legendary country-western singer/songwriter. A musical prodigy with a raw, soulful voice and a magnetic but troubled personality. Must be able to convincingly portray Williams’ iconic style of guitar playing and vocals, including yodeling. Embodies the joy, charm, and tragedy of Hank's life.
TEE-TOT PAYNE (Male, 40s-60s, Baritone, Guitarist, slide guitar preferred):
An African American blues singer who mentors Hank in his youth. Wise, warm, and soulful. Tee-Tot is a significant, grounding presence who introduces Hank to the music that shapes his destiny.
LEON (Male, 20-50s, Fiddle required):
Member of Hank’s band, the Drifting Cowboys. A loyal, playful presence who is a skilled fiddler and an essential part of the band’s sound.
HOSS (Male, 20s-50s, Bass Player):
Member of the Drifting Cowboys. Grounded and mature, he is the closest of Hank’s inner circle. Provides the backbone of the music. Plays upright bass proficiently.
JIMMY “BURRHEAD” (Male, 20s-50s, Lead Guitar Player):
The lead guitarist of the Drifting Cowboys. Flashy but dependable. A true showman on stage with a strong sense of rhythm and style.
“SHAG” (Male, 20s-50s, Steel Guitar Player):
Member of the Drifting Cowboys. A steady, no-nonsense musician with a deep commitment to the band. Skilled at playing steel guitar.
Non-musician roles:
MAMA LILLY (Female, 40s-50s):
Hank’s mother. Tough, loving, and devout. She is a practical woman who does what she believes is best for her family but struggles to control Hank’s destructive tendencies.
AUDREY WILLIAMS (Female, 20s-30s, Mezzo-Soprano): CAST
Hank’s first wife. Determined and ambitious with dreams of fame but little talent to back them up. Their volatile relationship is filled with passion and conflict.
FRED PAP ROSE (Male, 50s-70s):
A fatherly figure and businessman, he runs Acuff Rose Publishing and was a mentor to Hank. His soft-spoken charm compliments his professionalism and success.
THE WAITRESS (Female, 20s-30s): CAST
An earthy and captivating young lady who serves mainly as a narrator and ‘every woman.’ Embodies multiple characters.
