2 principle actor contracts.

Preparation
Two headshots and resumes are required at auditions, along with sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided. Please prepare 16 bars of two contrasting Rock musical selections that show off vocal range, musicianship, and versatility.

Other Dates
Rehearsals will begin the week of August 3rd. The production runsAugust 28th through September 9th at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.

Breakdown

Hedwig: (Male Lead – 25-40 all ethnicities) born Hansel Schmidt, has a sex change operation to escape communist East Berlin to come to America where she eventually becomes a rock singer. Very strong singer with rock and roll vibe. Wide vocal range a must. Should be able to ad lib with the audience throughout the show. Needs to have a good sense of movement in heels.

Yitzhak: (Female Lead – 25-40 all ethnicities) Hedwig's Croatian male husband and roadie/back-up singer. Hedwig's vocal sparring partner - theirs is an emotional and at times abusive relationship. The actress playing Yitzhak should be believable as a butch male but one that chafes at the bonds of traditional masculinity and longs to explore his feminine, creative side. Very strong singer with rock and roll vibe. Wide vocal range a must (high belt to a G). Must have a convincing Balkan accent. Should be able play basic percussion instruments - tambourine; maracas.
