PREPARATION
Knowledge of the script is highly recommended. Scripts are available at the Repertory and may be taken from the Theatre overnight with a $20 refundable deposit. The audition will consist of reading sides from the script. Sides will be provided. Also be prepared to do a one-minute monologue if asked.

BREAKDOWN
ERNIE: Middle to late 50s. African-American, sturdy build, from the Bronx. Wise, cultured, self-educated, self-made in many respects. Foreman for the City Parks landscaping crew.
MIKE: Mid to late 20s. White, from Brooklyn. Honest, talkative, curious, in sync with Ernie’s sense of humor. Landscaper.
JOSE: Mid to late 40s. Hispanic, from Queens. Neurotic, good humored. Long time assistant foreman to Ernie.
SAM: Mid 40s. White, from Brooklyn. Tough, sense of humor, at a more vulnerable stage.
