Breakdown

Description: The keystone of Shakespeare’s works, this most famous play of all plays has a thousand times more words written about it than the play itself contains. Hamlet, aggrieved son and nephew to the new king, seeks to avenge his father’s most certain murder. He must be sure of the crime before he acts; and it is in the struggle of whether to act or to wait that the drama of the play finds its core.

Seeking:

Hamlet – Prince of Denmark (Age 18-25)

Claudius – King of Denmark, Hamlet’s Uncle (Age 40-60)

Gertrude – Queen of Denmark Hamlet’s Mother (Age 40-60)

Polonius – Counselor to the King (Age 50-60)

Laertes – Son of Polonius (Age 18-25)

Ophelia – Daughter of Polonius – in love with Hamlet (Age 18-25)

Horatio – Hamlet’s friend (Age 18-25)

Rosenkrantz - Member of the Court (Age 18-25)

Gildenstern – Member of the Court (Age 18-25)

Players – 4 or 5 players who perform for the Danish Court (Ages 14-25)

Anticipated production schedule:
1st rehearsal: October 2, 2016 Runs October 21-November 20, 2016 (Thursday - Saturday evenings, Saturday and Sunday matinees, select weekday matinees) Student actors please note: Rehearsals will be held weekdays between the hours of 3PM and 9PM, weekends both Saturday and Sunday from 10AM-6PM. Rehearsals are held a minimum of 5 days per week.
