SYNOPSIS: Known in many theatre circles as “The Greatest American Musical Ever Written”, Gypsy tells the story of “Ultimate Stage Mother”, Rose, and her two daughters whom she pushes into show business, June & Louise. This lavish, touching, bawdy and dramatic show (written by Arthur Laurents, Jule Styne & Stephen Sondheim) features some of musical theatre’s golden standards including “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”, “Together Wherever We Go”, “You Gotta Get a Gimmick” and many more!

Rose - Age 35-50. Strong Mezzo Belter-Vocal Range: Low F to C - The Mother. Rose is the ultimate & stage mother; aggressive and domineering, pushing her children to perform.
Lives her life vicariously through her two daughters, whom she's put into show business. She is loud, brash, pushy and single-minded, but at ties can be doting and charming. Shi is holding down demons of her own that she is afraid to face. Her voice is the ultimate powerful Broadway belt. Minimal dance but must move well. Comic timing a must.

Louise/Gypsy — Age 18-35 - Shy and loyal. Rose’s oldest daughter, Baby Louise as a teenager, who grows up to be the stripper, Gypsy Rose Lee. She's pushed aside in favor of he talented younger sister June until she herself becomes her mother's new pet project. Should be able to move well. Minimum actual dance but must have very strong movement skills. Strong acting skills needed. Must be able to portray both the awkward teen and a sophisticated woman we know now as Gypsy Rose Lee. Dances inside a cow's costume and needs to be comfortable with stripping as a character. Vocal Range: C sharp to E flat - Mezzo, but needs light sound for Little Lamb

Tulsa – Age 17-24. Singing and dancing member of the “Farm Boys”. Extremely strong dancer including tap. Good singer (High Baritone/tenor to G). Dreams of having his own act with his special girl. Boy-next-door type; charming, handsome and endearing. Strives to break out and be a star.

Herbie – Age 40-55 Vocal Range: Baritone - Candy salesman and Rose's reluctant manager of the act. Loves Rose and the girls, but his patience has limits. Has a heart of gold but also has the power to defend the people he loves with strength; strong actor.
