ReOrient 2015 includes 9 short plays and will have an ensemble, with each actor playing multiple roles. Some specific roles in the festival include: Old Man (in Lost Kingdom): 50s, male, Iraqi dictator, charistmatic and strong presence Rossi (in Ceasefire): 20s, male, young Israeli soldier, inexperienced, easily scared Shaban Raad (in Songs of Our Childhood): 20s, male, young Iranian soldier, injured, scared, an artistic soul Hisham (in Picking Up the Scent): 30s, male, Egyptian archeologist, handsome, charming, curious Ali (in Counting in Shaab): 20s, male, a young Iraqi man, funny, fast-talking, has recently survived a bomb attack Alia (in the House): 20s, female, Palestinian-American philosophy student, smart, fast-talker, loves her father Nisrin (in Picking Up the Scent): 30s, female, Egyptian, PhD in English poetry, strong, a fighter, emotional Sitti (in Bitterenders): 50+ female, Palestinian grandmother, senile, angry, knows more than she lets on Sanaz Behzadi (in Songs of Our Childhood): 20s, female, Iranian nurse, progressive, rule-breaker Mira Zarindast (in Songs of Our Childhood): 20s, female, Iranian nurse, traditional, hardened by loss The actors in ReOrient will play many other roles as well.
