An Iraq war hero’s perfect life starts to unravel when a fellow soldier seeking justice shows up threatening to expose a hidden past. From the author of last season’s American Son, this probing drama shines a light on how America honors its veteran soldiers as well as the corrupting effect of awards and commendations, and questions what it truly means to be a hero.

Judge Francis Biddle: (60s+) once brilliant man who was Attorney General of the United Stares under Franklin Roosevelt. After a long and illustrious career he now functions, as he says, “somewhere between lucidity and senility”. He comes from an old, wealthy and well established Philadelphia family.
Sarah Schorr: 20s, has been hired, by Mrs. Biddle, to be the Judge’s secretary. She is a direct, plain-spoken

WILLUM - A Vietnam vet turned architect. Warm and appealing, though indecisive and to a frustrating fault, and at a standstill in life. In love with TANSY, but too afraid of commitment to stop her from moving to another city for work.
RICK - WILLUM’s Vietnam war buddy. The “nerd.” Odd, outlandish and outrageous. Socially inept.
AXEL - Male. WILLUM’s best friend. A theater critic. Intelligent and witty, with an acerbic sense of humor. Beneath the barbs, a very good friend.
TANSY - Female. WILLUM’s nearest and dearest. A weather forecaster on the brink of a move to DC.
WALDGRAVE - Male. A new client of WILLUM’s, and a self-made millionaire. A pompous real estate tycoon.
CLELIA - WALDGRAVE’s wife. Frustrated and repressed – she carries around saucers to smash at will in order to avoid meltdowns.
