SYNOPSIS: Fuzzy is a big-hearted comically dramatic puppet musical. It’s the story of a furry little creature who has come home to take care of their currently ailing mother. Fuzzy is also the story of a storyteller who has come to a theatre to tell the story of a furry little creature who… you get the gist. It's a little musical about all the big things - how we take care of each other and, in doing so, take care of ourselves.
THE HUMAN: 40-60, any gender. Voices FUZZY, a writer. An empathetic singer who tells the story of Fuzzy. Fuzzy is a little lost, and that's because The Human is a little lost, too. Occasionally cantankerous with a deep well of emotion, The Human is learning how to be the center of their own story. It's a rocky road.
THE PUPPETEER: Any age and gender. Voices JOJO, Fuzzy’s spouse. A gifted puppeteer (they provide almost all the puppet manipulation in the show) who is also caring and a good singer. They are also supporting The Human in telling the story, in real time, in front of an audience. They are keeping up the best they can.
THE ACTRESS: 65-80, female. Voices MUZZY, Fuzzy’s mother. Voices an older puppet, she is both flinty and compassionate at the same time and has a singing voice that carries the miles of the journey that has brought her here. Much like Muzzy, she doesn't suffer fools.
THE PIANIST: Any age and gender. Voices PASTOR BRIAN, a TV Evangelist. Skilled musician. Of the band members, The Pianist has the most responsibility. In the story of the musical, The Pianist helped put the whole thing together and is deeply invested in its success. They just have to play the piano beautifully while doing so.
THE GUITARIST: Any age and gender. Skilled musician. Plays the guitar fantastically and is also a straightforward but kind presence when called upon to act. They didn't know what they were getting into when saying yes to this job, and they're trying to keep it all together.
THE BASSIST: Any age and gender. Skilled musician. Plays the bass fantastically and is the grumpiest person on stage? They definitely either don't have the time for small talk or are so overwhelmed at speaking that it comes out like they don't have the time for any of it. They came to just play the notes.
