BREAKDOWN

BECOMING DR.RUTH
by Mark St. Germain
Rehearsals start October 31 | Runs November 25 thru December 23

Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer
Female, 69 – ALREADY CAST.
__________

IF I FORGET
by Steven Levenson
Rehearsals start January 2 | Runs February 3 thru March 4

Seeking:

Lou Fischer
(Male, 75) – A Jewish WWII veteran, proud of his family and Jewish heritage. Now retired, he is the landlord of a store that has been in the family over 100 years. His wish is to pass on this legacy to the next generation, but his children have other plans for the store.

Holly Fischer
(Female, 48) – Lou's oldest daughter. Jewish, but only goes to synagogue a couple times a year. Her dress and manner reflect a lifestyle that comes with being married to a successful lawyer. She thinks highly of herself, is brash, and freely speaks her mind, often times at the expense of others. Despite all this, she means well and genuinely cares for her family.

Michael Fischer
(Male, 45) – Lou’s Son. Cynical, self-centered, slightly neurotic, and a workaholic. A Jewish Studies professor who happens to be an atheist. Seeking tenure, he writes a manuscript about the Holocaust and dedicates it to his father. When his father does not acknowledge the dedication, Michael becomes uneasy, adding to his already strained relationship with his family.

Sharon Fischer
(Female, 39) – Lou's youngest daughter. Jewish. Sentimental and proud of her heritage. A kindergarten teacher and Lou's primary caregiver. Strongly resents her siblings for being too consumed in their own lives to help deal with their ailing father's welfare. Tired of unfair treatment by her older siblings, she stands up for herself and their threats against the family’s legacy.

Ellen Manning
(Female, 43) – Michael’s wife. Not Jewish. Kind, calm, and the voice of reason when tensions arise between Michael and his siblings. Supportive of her husband’s career, but eventually realizes the stress of his work may be too much for their relationship to handle.

Howard Kilberg
(Male, 51) – Holly's husband. Joey’s step-father. Jewish. A corporate lawyer. Bit of a pushover and foolish, but his intentions are noble. Not fully welcomed into the family by his in-laws, he awkwardly inserts himself in conversations to feel included. When the family does acknowledge him, they are usually looking to him for financial support.

Joey Oren
(Male, 16) – Holly's son. A smart and socially awkward teen. Has some behavioral issues; not violent, just acts out to get attention. Generally indifferent toward his family, but shows concern during trying times. Likes video games, performing magic, and Arizona iced tea.
__________

GLORIA
by Branden Jacob-Jenkins
Rehearsals start March 13 | Runs April 7 thru May 6

Seeking:

Dean / Devin
(Male, late 20s, White) – An assistant; aggressive, driven, desperately trying to break out of his position and potentially killing himself in the process; he is gay.

Kendra / Jenna
(Female, mid-late 20s, Asian) – Asian-American or half Asian-American female; an assistant at a national magazine; unapologetic about her ambition with razor-sharp wit; she is an extremely smart Harvard grad, but is also superficial and trendy; loud, opinionated, and in your face. Must have great comic chops. Also plays Jenna, an executive at a TV production company.

Ani / Sasha / Callie
(Female, early 20s, White) – An assistant; exacting, a pretty nerd-- the kind of girl who wears her mother's dresses; she did a Fulbright and speaks too many languages for her own good; she does a lot, but she doesn't really know what she wants to do..

Gloria / Nan
(Female, extra-late 30s) – A copy editor; she's worked at the magazine too long and is now worn out in a way that's given her a manic, wired, testy energy.

Miles / Shawn / Rashaad
(Male, 20 years old, Black) – The intern; quiet, keeps to himself, doesn't make much of an impression; he works hard, but that could be ambition or just because he has nowhere else to go; goes to Harvard, got this internship through an acclaimed professor.

Lorin
(Male, late 30s) – Recently promoted head fact checker; a sad sad sad sad guy; he's been at the magazine for way too long and resents his own success in the fact checking department.
___________

I’M GONNA PRAY FOR YOU SO HARD
by Halley Feiffer
Rehearsals start May 15 | Runs June 9 thru July 8

Seeking:

Ella
(Female, 20s) – An up-and-coming actress

David
(Male, 70s) – A famous playwright. Ella’s father.
____________

WHITE GUY ON THE BUS
by Bruce Graham
Rehearsals start July 17 | Runs August 11 thru September 9

Seeking:

Ray
(Male, 50s, White) – A well-dressed money manager, he worked his way up to a life of luxury on Philadelphia’s Main Line and has accumulated the trappings of success – but he’s a man searching for purpose, ready to leave it all behind & driven to the point of self-destruction. Gentle and self-deprecating when we first meet him, he is also a master manipulator and capable of deep fury. Prototype: Dylan Baker, Bradley Whitford.

Roz
(Female, 50s, White) – Naturally elegant and disarmingly forthright, Roz always tells it like it is; enjoys stirring the pot and sinks her teeth into an intellectual debate--and sometimes her aggression gets away from her; pragmatic and irreverent, but under it all, she is fueled by a giant heart and a desire to help people.

Christopher
(Male, 20s, White) – An optimist, Christopher is a peacemaker by nature--he often mediates the people around him; he's succinct, impulsive, and charismatic; he's highly educated, which has produced in him an idealism that hasn't yet been beaten down by a world in which idealism holds little sway.

Molly
(Female, 20s, White) – Liberal, hopeful, a bit starry-eyed; she's smart as a whip--smarter than she gets credit for--but she's no shark, which means she's prone to getting eaten alive by people like Roz; making discoveries for the first time and has a tendency to regurgitate the politics of her social media feed.

Shatique
(Female, 26, Black) – Ambitious and aspirational, she would do almost anything to give her son a better life; her life hasn’t been easy so far, and the challenges have worn her down into a pragmatist, but she hasn't given up the fight--it's just quieter than it might once have been; steadfastly loyal.
