Breakdown
Audition Preparation Instructions
All bring TWO pictures and resumes.
For HAY FEVER:
Prepare One 1 – 2 minute comedic monologue that is of the style of Hay Fever and with a British R.P. (High British) accent if possible.
For ONCE UPON A MATTRESS
Prepare One 1 minute, comedic, character-driven musical theatre song. Traditional or legit style is preferred. The show will be staged as a troupe of traveling actors during the English Renaissance. The style is bawdy and presentational with a lot of improv, ad libs, and audience involvement. Please show us this performance style in your audition. Bring sheet music in your key and your audition book.
In addition to your song, please show us any “Ren Fest” style “special skills” such as juggling, acrobatics, magic tricks, swordplay/combat, Celtic dancing, stilt walking, etc.
Also, please show us if you’re able to play any of the following musical instruments very well: guitar/lute, violin/fiddle, trumpet, flute/recorder, hand drums, or harp/lyre.
Please dress comfortably in clothes you can move in. Ladies, no high heels! Be physically engaged in your storytelling. We want to see you, your personality, and your body in your performance with full, committed, truthful gestures and movement.
