Breakdown
Those auditioning for Judy should also prepare a short version of a song - preferably sung in Judy Garland's style. (Accompanist provided - bring sheet music in the key in which you will be singing.) No other character sings. Those auditioning for Anthony will be asked to demonstrate their ability to play the piano.
SEEKING:
JUDY GARLAND – Female, Judy towards the end of her life so late 40s, thin, hyperactive, powerfual and dominating. Addicted to pills and alcohol. Passionate, funny, and sad. Sings 9 songs in the show. Must be a strong singer who can emulate Judy's style and sound.
MICHAEL DEANS - Male, early 30s. Judy's fiance. American. A club owner. A litlte sleazy and sometimes childlike; weak, ambitious, manipulative, but for all that, he truly cares for Judy.
ANTHONY - Male, 35 - 60. Judy's piano player. English, gay, sensitive, polite - a centered man who knows who he is and loves Judy; a lovely, sane person in the middle of an insane situation. Gentle, warm. British accent. PLEASE NOTE: ACTOR MUST PLAY THE PIANO EXTREMELY WELL. HE WILL ALSO BE THE MUSIC DIRECTOR FOR THE SHOW, SO MUST THE ABILITY TO DO THAT AS WELL.
MULTIPLE ROLES ACTOR - Male, late 20s - 40. Plays 3 roles: a stuffy English BBC radio announcer, a porter (who carries Judy in), and a nervous English Assistant Stage Manager. British accent (s). Seeking versatile actor.
