Equity actor for 1 available male role. The other 3 roles have been CAST, but seeking actors for emergency replacements if needed. Running December 1st thru the
22nd at New York Theatre Workshop's Fourth Street Theatre. This documentary play, crafted entirely from immigration
court transcripts, interviews and letters tells the gripping true story of fourteen year old Edgar Chocoy and his legal
struggle to be allowed to stay in the United States. See breakdown.

BREAKDOWN
Seeking:
Edgar Chocoy
Latino, 16-25, fully bilingual (Spanish/English), De Novo tells the true story of Edgar, who fled gang life in Guatemala City under threat of death, and crossed alone into the United States in search of his mother in the United States and a better life. Actor plays Edgar from the ages of 12 to 16, tracing his childhood in Guatemala City, his adolescence in Los Angeles and his incarceration in U.S. immigration detention.
The following roles have already been cast, but we will see actors as possible emergency replacements for the future:
Santiago Sanchez, Byron Vasquez, Scott Johns and Ensemble
A very strong character male Actor with wide range and accent facility to play multiple roles of varying backgrounds and ages, including a young Mexican-American former gang member turned youth counselor from Los Angeles, a middle-aged reporter from Guatemala, an older Federal Judge from Arizona, a government attorney, and assorted young gang members in Guatemala and Los Angeles. Spanish speaking is a plus.
Kim Salinas
An immigration attorney and mother of small children with a passion for seeking justice for the most vulnerable. A northern Californian who makes her life and work in Colorado. She has both a tender compassionate side and the grit of a warrior.
Margarita Guzman
The mother of Edgar Chocoy Guzman, a Guatemalan woman who must make the most difficult choice: See her children go hungry or leave them to work in the United States. Margarita possesses strength and humility in equal measure. Spanish Speaking a must.
