Abby Brewster - In her late 60s to early 70s. She is the epitome of a kind-hearted, Victorian spinster with a smile that belies her deadly hobby. She has a twisted moral compass that justifies her actions. More controlling and demanding than her sister, she is likely the mastermind of their home.
Martha Brewster - Of a similar age to Abby. She is her accomplice in their charitable homicide. She has a matronly warmth and a nurturing demeanor that contrasts comically with her criminal activities. A bit daffy, a bit Rose Nylund, but smarter and quicker than she lets on.
Mortimer Brewster - In his late 20s to mid-30s. He is a generally good-natured man with a quick wit, who is often flustered by the insane antics of his aunts and the dark discoveries he uncovers. He provides the voice of reason amidst the chaos. He is strong, focused, but also a bit of a whiny baby sometimes.
Teddy Brewster - In his late 30s to 40s. He is large and boisterous, with the energy and exuberance of the Rough Rider he believes himself to be. His behavior is eccentric and harmless but requires managing by his family. Very earnest and takes his job as President very seriously.
Jonathan Brewster - In his mid-40s to 50s, he has a sinister presence and is intimidating in appearance and demeanor. His appearance has been altered to the point where he frightens those who see him. He has a volatile temper that is constantly smoldering under the surface, but like Mortimer, can also be a whiny baby.
Dr. Herman Einstein - In his mid-40s to 50s. He speaks with a German accent and is often drunk. He is naturally more sweet and forgiving, but easily swayed to the dark side with very little moral fall out.
Elaine Harper - In her mid-20s, she is a strong woman with a strong moral center. She was the “girl-next-door” who has blossomed into a woman of substance who doesn’t easily suffer fools.
The Rev. Dr. Harper - In his 50s to 60s. He is the righteous and protective father of Elaine and the authoritative figure in the neighborhood, though somewhat oblivious to the Brewsters' peculiarities.
Officer O'Hara - In their 20s to 40s. They are a beat cop with dreams of being a playwright, which he’s obsessed with. He is not particularly astute.
Lieutenant Rooney - In his 40s to 60s. They are a no-nonsense, world-weary cop who is tough and authoritative and does not miss much. He provides a contrast to the inept O'Hara.
Mr. Gibbs - In his 60s to 70s. He is a potential victim of the aunts, a somewhat fussy and oblivious man who nearly falls into their trap.
Mr. Witherspoon - In his 50s to 60s. He is the superintendent of the sanitarium, stuffy and bureaucratic, but also has a kind heart underneath his professional exterior.
