Breakdown

Seeking the following understudies:

POPS U/S
(first rehearsal March 3)
(Stephen McKinley Henderson). 50’s-60’s, African-American. The patriarch of the family. A retired cop and with a lawsuit against the city. Trying to keep whatever is left of his family intact.


JUNIOR/OSWALDO U/S
(first rehearsal March 17)
[JUNIOR] (Ron Cephas Jones) 40’s, Pops’ son and currently dating Lulu. Trying to work his way through life as best as he can. At odds with Pops and is perhaps doing some illegal activity to make a few bucks. Stuck at the moment. [OSWALDO] (Victor Almanzar) 30’s, Junior’s ex-con friend from rehab, crashing at Pop’s apartment. A troubled young man seeking comfort wherever he can find it. Fighting to stay sober. Alienated by his own family.


LIEUTENANT CARO
U/S (first rehearsal March 17)
(Michael Rispoli), 40’s-50’s, Italian-American. Has quickly climbed the ladder within the NYPD and is a future Deputy Commissioner. Engaged to Detective O’Conner. Trying to help Pops resolve a long fight with the department.


DETECTIVE O’CONNER/LULU/CHURCH LADY U/S
(first rehearsal March 17)
[DETECTIVE O’CONNER] (Elizabeth Canavan) 30’s-40’s, Pops’ former partner in the NYPD. Loves him dearly and wants the best for him. Caught between her ambitious fiancé and her mentor/father. [LULU] (Rosal Colón) 20’s-30’s, also staying at Pops’. Dating Junior and trying to find a way to make herself necessary in their lives. Huge heart, yet not the sharpest tool in the shed. [CHURCH LADY] (Liza Colón-Zayas) 30’s-40’s, may originally be from Brazil, a novitiate for the convent. Is holding dark secrets that suggest a complicated history. Trying to do the right thing, whatever that means to her.
