Actor/Singers for various roles in the following musical:
BLUES IN THE NIGHT: A Musical

Preparation
Prepare 32 bars of a standard blues or jazz song, preferably from the period (1920s-1930s)
You must bring sheet music in proper key for the pianist [NO CD OR TRACKED ACCOMPANIMENT IS PERMITTED]
Be prepared to do cold readings from the script. Sides will be emailed upon confirmation of apt.
Also prepare a 1 to 2-minute monologue which you may or may not be called upon to perform.

MUSICALDESCRIPTION:
This dynamic compilation of 26 hot and torchy blues frames the relationships of three women and their involvement with one snake of a guy. Their interweaving stories are told through the music of Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Bessie Smith, Alberta Hunter among others.
SETTING:
Three hotel rooms in Chicago in 1938

The Girl with a Date
Any ethnicity, Age 20's - full of energy and enthusiasm, bright, clever, innocent - easily hurt
The Lady from the Road
African American- age 50-60's - great sense of humor, warm, wealth of experience- she is the Blues in all its variety
The Woman of the World
Any ethnicity, age 35-45 - beautiful, stylish, sophisticated, sensual, emotional
