We are committed to inclusive representation of race, ethnicity, gender, body type, and ability. We welcome performers of all abilities and will make all reasonable accommodations in order to cast performers in any role possible. We also recognize that all characters in this play are written on the binary (use he/him or she/her pronouns) and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. Race/ethnicity is listed only when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities.

Nudity will NEVER be required at any point in the audition or callback process. Actors will be provided with a robe and dressing room. There will be an Intimacy Coordinator.
Storyline: S. Asher Gelman’s Off-Broadway hit Afterglow, which played extended runs in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Madrid, will make its Chicago debut. “Afterglow” is a raw, one-act play exploring the emotional, intellectual, and physical connections between three men and the broader implications within their relationships. Josh and Alex, a married couple in an open relationship, invite Darius to share their bed one night. When a new intimate connection begins to form, all three men must come to terms with their individual definitions of love, loyalty, and trust as futures are questioned, relationships are shaken, and commitments are challenged.
[JOSH] 18 to 35, any ethnicity, man. Theater director and Manhattan native. Confident and aware of his own self-worth. Simultaneously sensitive and manipulative. He likes to be in control and demands a lot of attention --- which he often gets by using his inherent sensuality and wealth.
[ALEX] 18 to 35, all ethnicities, man. Working as a chemist. He has mixed feelings about his humble Midwestern upbringing. He is deliberate in his actions and speech --- and is pointedly articulate. Nothing he does or says is accidental.
[DARIUS] 18 to 35, all ethnicities, man. Massage therapist who suffers from low self-esteem. He is intent on pleasing those around him, often putting the needs of others before his own. He identifies as a healer; someone who dispels pain. He is lonely, and is frustrated with trying to make friendships and romantic relationships work in NYC.
[SWING] 18 to 35, all ethnicities, man. To cover JOSH, ALEX, and DARIUS.
