Equity actors for roles in Creede Repertory Theatre's 2025 Season (See breakdown). Most roles will be understudied.
PREPARATION

Creede Repertory Theatre 2025 Season
In reference to the character descriptions below: most characters we currently encounter are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/hers pronouns. However limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. We also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking actors of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

- Kira / Clio: 20s - 30s, any ethnicity. The youngest of Zeus's daughters and the muses. Falls in love with Sonny. Pretty. Adventurous. Honest and determined. Muse of history and the leader of the muses. A strong mover. ROLLER SKATING IS A REQUIREMENT FOR THIS ROLE. Gender Identity: Female. Vocal range: Mezzo w/ high mix/belt, G3 - A5.
- Sonny Malone: 20s - 30s, any ethnicity. A self-critical and depressed, mortal, chalk artist who falls in love with Kira. Handsome, but not particularly smart. He embodies 1980s pop culture and is very much a California dreamer. Good mover. ROLLER SKATING IS A REQUIREMENT FOR THIS ROLE. Gender Identity: Male. Vocal range: Tenor, D3 - C5.
- Danny Maguire / Zeus / Ensemble: 40 - 60, any ethnicity. The hard-nosed all work and no play businessman who owns the theater he once built for his love, Kira. Used to be a budding artist like Sonny but has since let money and greed consume him. Gender Identity: Male. Vocal range: Tenor, C3 - D4.
- Calliope / Aphrodite / Ensemble: CAST. 40 - 50, any ethnicity. Kira's older sister and fellow muse. She is jealous of Kira and as Melpomene's sidekick, plots with her for Kira's downfall. The Muse of epics. Gender Identity: Female. Vocal range: Mezzo, B2 - D5.
- Melpomene / Medusa / Ensemble: 40 - 50, any ethnicity. Kira's oldest sister. Mother of the Sirens. She is jealous that Kira is the leader of the muses rather than herself and therefore creates the plot for her downfall. Muse of tragedy. Gender Identity: Female. Vocal range: Mezzo-Belter, G3 - E5.
Additionally seeking 2 versatile actors to portray a combination of the following characters as well as Andrew’s Sisters, The Tubes, Cyclops, Centaur, Hera, & Thetis. Must be very strong movers and singers. Must be able to roller skate or willing to learn.
- Thalia: One of Kira's older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of comedy. Gender Identity: Any. Vocal range: Tenor, C3 - C5.
- Euterpe: One of Kira's older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of music. Gender Identity: Female. Vocal range: Soprano, B3 - C6 (high C).
- Erato: One of Kira's older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of lyrics and erotica. As Eros, she is responsible for shooting Kira with the arrow of love brought on by Melpomene and Calliope's spell. Gender Identity: Female. Vocal range: Mezzo, B3 - C5.
- Terpsicore: One of Kira's older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of dance. As Hermes, the messenger of the gods, he is deeply masculine in voice but sassy and flippant in attitude. Gender Identity: Any. Vocal range: Tenor, G3 - C5.
THE 39 STEPS

SEEKING:
- Richard Hannay: 30s - 40s, any ethnicity. One half of the leading duo who possesses the Hitchcock-esque suave, dashing, debonaire qualities. He is an artistic soul, a rebel, and an everyman capable of unlocking a secret heart filled with will and determination, cunning and vulnerability. Adept physical comedian, a great listener and responder, and ensemble member.
- Annabella/Pamela/Margaret: 20s - 40s, any ethnicity. One half of the leading duo who possesses physical, emotional, and comedic prowess. Will play all three roles listed, with the possibility of stepping into a clown role or two. Gender Identity: Female. Annabella: a brilliant but marked Russian woman who is on the run from spies and killed at their hand. Russian accent. Pamela: a quintessential Hitchcock-esque leading lady. She is bold, emotionally, and intellectually intelligent, powerful, and fashionable. English accent required. Margaret: a small-town farm worker married off to a cruel man; she is eager to see the world, to help Richard out when he stumbles upon her farm and is willing to risk the consequences from her abusive husband in following her heart and gut. Scottish accent required.
- Clown #1 & Clown #2: Age range: flexible, any ethnicity. They are vivacious, debonair, and have substantial authority. They are able to lift set pieces and move around the stage adroitly. Versatility with European accents is a plus. Gender Identity: Any.

Actors who play instruments, especially for the role of The Narrator / El Gallo are encouraged to accompany themselves with an instrument of your choice.
- The Narrator (El Gallo): 30 - 60, any ethnicity. A rakish, handsome, sophisticated gallant and narrator of the show. He is warm, cordial, and inviting to the audience, but has his own darker moments. He aids the performers in orchestrating the story. Ability to play guitar a plus. Gender Identity: Male. Vocal Range: Baritone, G#2/Ab2 - G4.
- The Girl (Luisa): 20 - 25 (to play 18), any ethnicity. She is a romantic idealist who falls in love with Matt. She is naive, yet honest and tender. Ability to play an instrument a plus. Gender Identity: Female. Vocal Range: Soprano, B3 - C6 (high C).
- The Boy (Matt): 20 - 25, any ethnicity. An innocent, young man who is searching for love and adventure. A bright guy, but naive and even foolish at times, approaching situations with a false bravado. Ability to play an instrument a plus. Gender Identity: Male. Vocal Range: Baritone, A2 - G4.
- The Boy's Mother (Hucklebee): 40 - 60, any ethnicity. A meticulous gardener who fakes a fight with Bellomy in hopes of getting their children to fall in love. Ability to play an instrument a plus. Gender Identity: Female. Vocal Range: Mezzo, A3 - F#5/Gb5.
- The Girl's Father (Bellomy): 40 - 60, any ethnicity. A picky gardener who fakes a fight with Hucklebee in hopes of getting their children together. Ability to play an instrument a plus. Gender Identity: Male. Vocal Range: Baritone, A2 - G4.
- The Actor (Henry): CAST. 50 - 70, any ethnicity. An aging, over-the-top Thespian who specializes in reciting Shakespeare, he is a commedia clown; his world is the stage and he knows no other reality. Non-singing role. Gender Identity: Any.
- The Man Who Dies (Mortimer): 30 - 50, any ethnicity. Henry's goofy sidekick and another former actor who specializes in stage deaths. A commedia clown, his world is the stage and he does not live in reality. Non-singing role. Gender Identity: Any.
- The Mute: 30 - 40, any ethnicity. A speechless presence who watches, acts as the wall, and deals with props; the invisible stage assistants. Able to easily assist in the story or fade into the background unnoticed. Non-singing role, excellent physical storyteller. Gender Identity: Any.
