JOB SUMMARY
Ideal candidate is a recent graduate looking for hands-on experience and training in Sound. This is an entry-level position.
Mill Mountain Theatre is seeking a Sound Technician to assist in the running of all sound across all Mill Mountain Theatre spaces, including a 350-seat MainStage proscenium, BlackBox stage, and touring locations. Technicians may have opportunities to design shows for our Education Department if desired.
The Sound Technician looks after the maintenance and organization of all sound equipment. When not working on sound-specific tasks, the technician will work alongside shop staff to assist in the construction of shows. The Sound Technician will either serve as the mixer at the board or as A2 backstage during productions.
Candidates should be able to lift 70 pounds, be comfortable working at heights, and be over 18 years of age.
Free housing, all utilities including WIFI and cable, and downtown parking included.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
-Serving as the mixer at the board or as A2 backstage during productions
-Setting up speakers, mics, and monitors in both indoor and outdoor theatre spaces
-Assisting in the maintenance or repair of tools
-Assisting in the construction of set pieces
-Assisting all departments in the strike of shows
-Completing assigned tasks correctly and on time
-Keeping workspaces clean and organized
-Attending all required production meetings
-Additional duties as assigned by the Artistic Director
QUALIFICATIONS
-Past experience or training as a sound engineer
-Comfort patching and setting up mics for live performers and band
-Competent, working knowledge of theatrical equipment
-Knowledge of the Behringer X32 series or other digital soundboards
-Good problem-solving skills
-Positive attitude even in times of stress
-Ability to lead a team of high school-aged volunteers
-Desire to learn new skills
-The ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks in a timely manner
-Collaborative attitude
-Heavy-lifting abilities
-Lighting experience is a plus but not necessary
WORKING CONDITIONS
Mill Mountain Theatre operates on a flex work schedule. This job will require regular work on nights and weekends. All overtime will be compensated.
