Just in time for Halloween, a monster of a lobster has taken up residence at Burger & Lobster on West 19th Street in the Flatiron District of NYC. At three feet long, 21 pounds, and with claws each larger than football (more than 15 inches long and 8 inches wide), he is the largest of the five million lobsters that Burger & Lobster has had in its tanks worldwide since the first restaurant opening in 2011. Named Vince, after the restaurant's operations manager, this impressive specimen of a crustacean arrived late last week and will be accepting visitors for the foreseeable future. He is not for sale in honor of his size and age, which is "around 60 years," according to the University of Maine's Lobster Institute. Institute representatives noted that it is even rarer than 1 in 5 million to see such a creature in captivity, because most places with commercial lobster operations ban the landing of any of such magnitude. Canada is an exception and Vince is from Nova Scotia where all of the Burger & Lobster crustaceans are captured.
Burger & Lobster Halloween Special
As a seasonal salute to Vince, on Halloween anyone how shows up at Burger & Lobster in a lobster costume or equipped with some sort of lobster image paraphernalia (pin, sweater, cap or whatever) will be entitled to a complimentary order of Lobster Bites, lobster and shrimp wrapped in pastry shell with lemon zest and onions, served with house made sweet chili sauce (or Burger Bites, signature beef blend wrapped in pastry shell with cheese, house and pickles, served with signature burger sauce) on the house. The complimentary bites will also be available on Halloween to anyone with visual lobster leanings at Burger & Lobster's new Times Square/Bryant Park location. The Times Square location is ideal for midtown theatergoers.
