The Northern Hotel today announced Executive Chef Tim Freeman and TEN will be participating in the 2015 World Gourmet Society Festival. TEN is one of only two restaurants in North America invited to partake in the month-long event that showcases gourmet menus developed by top chefs worldwide.

This distinction places Freeman among an exclusive group of chefs, most of whom have been awarded Michelin stars by France's annual Michelin Guide. The theme of the 2015 World Gourmet Society Festival is to "Discover New Culinary Landscapes in the Best Restaurants Across the World". Each chef will create a special menu to be featured in their restaurants during the month of March.

"What that means to me, is to use things in a new way, something that people haven't seen before," said Tim Freeman, executive chef for TEN. "It is really an honor to be one of only two restaurants in North America involved in this culinary event. We have an opportunity to showcase some really creative, palate pleasing dishes."

Having started his career at Spago in Beverly Hills, Freeman has cooked around the world and finds culinary inspiration in local flavors approached in a simple way. Stints in Moscow, Washington, D.C., Carvoeiro, Portugal, Puerto Princessa, Philippines and Nairobi, Kenya have influenced his palette and approach to cooking. Freeman's tenure as White House Chef de Partie during the Clinton administration provided the opportunity to cook for just about every world leader who visited Washington.

When Freeman and TEN Sous Chef, Tyler Ellis were formulating the five-course special menu for the World Gourmet Society Festival, they were passionate about including as many seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients as possible. Venison, Flathead cherries, huckleberries, Montana-produced cheeses and pheasant are just some of the local flavors that appear on the Festival menu that will be served alongside TEN's regular fare during the month of March.

Restaurants in Germany, Austria, Hong Kong and Italy are also participants in the festival.
