Upper West Side Indian restaurant Savoury will offer a four-course Valentine's Day dinner, consisting of dishes from Chef/Owner Lala Sharma's regular menu. Guests may choose their own dishes, selecting either Papadum or Green salad to begin, and then one starter, one entrée and one dessert.
For couples looking to turn up the heat, there are plenty of spicy and aphrodisiac-inflected dishes to choose from. Curry, for example, is said to be an aphrodisiac and the Home-style Chicken Curry, with garam masala, tomatoes, onion and cilantro would be ideal to savor. Ginger, too, is considered an aphrodisiac and can be found in dishes like Tadka Daal (yellow lentils simmered with ginger, onion and tomatoes). Other spicy standouts include Cochin Jhinga, succulent shrimp in chili masala sauce, and Lamb/Goat Vindaloo cooked in a fiery, tangy sauce.
All entrees will be served with basmati rice and naan bread and each couple will receive a complimentary bottle of wine.
The four-course meal will be priced at $60 per person. For Chef Sharma's complete menu, visit www.savourynyc.com. Savoury is located at 489 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY 10024. Call 212-875-1400 for reservations.
