Nobody does Mardi Gras better than famed chef Emeril Lagasse and for the first time, New Yorkers can celebrate Fat Tuesday at his newest restaurant, Rodos. Mardi Gras, or "Fat Tuesday," as it is known, is the last day of the Carnival season, and it always falls the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. So on March 5th, get out those beads, and umbrellas, and high step to Rodos where zydeco is on the playlist and team Emeril Lagasse is blending his famous signature Cajun dishes with the Greek food he has come to love.
Why trust inferior gumbos when at Rodos you can get the Emeril specialty Louisiana Seafood & Andouille Gumbo with laurel steamed rice ($16), Louisiana Crawfish Pasta Shells with tasso ham and parmesan ($25), New Orleans Style Barbecue Shrimp ($22), and Louisiana Crawfish Stuffed Clams with Miss Hilda's Caldo Verde broth ($23). For those with a penchant for lighter fare go for what Emeril calls Our Greek Salad made with heirloom cherry tomatoes, caper leaves, gavros, mizithra cheese, cucumber, onion, and olive ($21) or the Lavraki with kritamos leaves, ladolemono and capers ($32). No matter what one chooses from the Rodos menu, the party starts when the food hits the table, so let the good times roll.
Rodos is located at 37 West 24th Street, New York, NY 10010. Visit http://www.rodosnyc.com/ and call 212.989.8811.
