President's Day is almost here. If you're still looking for a nice getaway or day trip for the long weekend, here are some suggestions that work for singles, couples, families, and friend groups. We have paired great restaurant choices with interesting historical sites to make your trip especially inviting and exciting. Reservations are suggested at the dining destinations.

Constitution History in Philly, Aloft Philadelphia Downtown, and aMuse

Philadelphia is a city rich in American history and Presidents Day Weekend events, such as at the full schedule of family-friendly activities at the National Constitution Center Feb. 17-19. If you're looking for a place to stay that's both affordable and boasts historic touches, head to Aloft Philadelphia Downtown, which opened in September 2017 inside the former Liberty Title & Trust Building. Homages to Philadelphia's history includes the depiction of the Liberty Bell on a floor medallion in the lounge, as well as the vintage safety deposit boxes that adorn the floor-to-ceiling bookshelf-a nod to Pennsylvania being home to the first public library in the US. The hotel is just steps from Independence Hall. Visit: http://www.aloftphiladelphiadowntown.com/.

Located in Philadelphia's Center City is aMuse is a stylish bistro where newly appointed Executive Chef Jennifer Salhoff is serving contemporary takes on French classics. The restaurant serves lunch, dinner and breakfast daily, as well as Sunday Jazz Brunch. The restaurant also has a cocktail program featuring drinks inspired by historic women, as well as a selection of smoked cocktails. Visit: https://www.amusephiladelphia.com/menus/.

Presidents' Oceanside Getaway in Long Branch, NJ and Avenue

President Ulysses S. Grant put Long Branch, New Jersey, an idyllic beach town just an hour from Philadelphia and NYC, on the map as the summer capital of the nation, and for good reason. An additional 6 presidents followed his lead. They include Hayes, Garfield, Arthur, Harrison, McKinley, and Wilson. All year long, Long Branch is a welcoming ocean side beach town catering to travelers looking for adventures like kayaking, hiking, fishing, theatre and more. Pier Village, the "City by the Sea" offers shopping and activities. Visit: https://piervillage.com/.

After a day well spent, travelers can head over to Long Branch's stylish restaurant, Avenue right on the Atlantic Ocean in Pier Village. Experience some of the Northeast's freshest seafood courtesy of Chef Josh Sauer, while receiving the Presidential treatment. Visit: http://www.leclubavenue.com/.

Washington's Headquarters Museum in Morristown, NJ and The Stirling Tavern

The Morristown National Historical Park commemorates the sites of General Washington and the Continental army's winter encampment of December 1779 to June 1780, where they survived through what would be the coldest winter on record. The park also maintains a museum & library collection related to the encampments & George Washington, as well as items relating to pre- and post-Revolutionary America. Visit: https://www.nps.gov/morr/index.htm.

Downtown Morristown has a vibrant dining scene. After learning about pre and post Revolutionary America, stop by one of their welcoming restaurants like the The Stirling Tavern, a family-owned establishment with great food, craft beer and spirits. Visit: https://www.stirlingtavern.com/.

The Roosevelts in Hyde Park, NY and The Culinary Institute of America

The Hyde Park area is an ideal destination for those that relish presidential history. Visit the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt, its impressive grounds, and the Presidential Library and Museum. At this National Park, learn about the only President of the United States to be elected to four consecutive terms. It's a beautiful drive, and visitors can also travel by Metro-North Railroad from New York City. Visit: https://www.nps.gov/hofr/index.htm.

The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) is one of the Hyde Park's favorite dining experiences. The CIA Dining group has five restaurants and eateries on the grounds of the Institute as well as special events for guests. Visit: http://www.ciarestaurantgroup.com/new-york-restaurants/.
