OKTOBERFEST Celebrations Come to Venues in NYC and NJ Image

Oktoberfest comes to New York and New Jersey with celebrations at restaurants and bars that everyone can enjoy. The origins of Oktoberfest are from Germany when Crown Prince Ludwig, who later became King Ludwig I married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on October 12 of 1810. Many of the Citizens of Munich came to the festivities that were held in front of the city gates to celebrate the royal event. Now, people around the world gather to enjoy food, friends and fun in the early fall of the year.

We selected some of our favorite venues that are doing special menus and entertainment for Oktoberfest.

HandCraft Kitchen & Cocktails (NYC) Now through October 7, HandCraft is offering $5 Oktoberfest drafts; $10 Oktoberfest beer flights; and a $10 Oktoberfest beer and pretzel combo. HandCraft Kitchen & Cocktails brings excitement to the bar experience through an extensive craft beer list, fresh inventive cocktails made with hand-pressed juices and hand-cut ice, and elevated American comfort food. And in New Jersey:

Chef Josh Sauer is a charcuterie expert who learned the art of making sausage from his European grandparents. Pair the brat burger with a 12 oz. glass of Warsteiner Oktoberfest beer for just an extra $4. The special is available 3pm - close at the bar. In addition, Avenue's lunch menu will feature house made Bratwurst with sauerkraut over boiled potatoes throughout the month of October. Visit: http://www.leclubavenue.com/.
