The weather outside may be hot, but thoughts of the winter holiday season prevailed at the recent event, "Christmas in July - The Art of Celebrating the Holidays" hosted by Champagne Taittinger at Eventi Hotel in New York City. The premier world-renowned champagne house invited guests to enjoy a full selection of their fine wines along with a tempting array of hors d'oeuvres and a Parisian raw bar.
A scrumptious selection of desserts was presented by renowned Master Pastry Chef and Chocolatier, Jacques Torres. They included macaroons in luscious flavors and artisan chocolates. Torres also crafted an edible flute for guests to enjoy with a pouring of Champagne Taittinger's Brut La Francais.
The festivities were in full swing when a caviar and champagne tasting highlighted the event. It featured four of Taittinger's delightful champagnes paired with four wonderful selections of Calvisius Caviar. The tasting was led by the Artistic Director of Champagne Taittinger, Vitalie Taittinger; Sommelier, Chantelle Pabros and Calvisius Caviar's Vice President, John Knierim. This trio of charming experts lent their food and wine expertise to the group.
"Christmas in July - The Art of Celebrating the Holidays" was an elegant showcase for holiday entertaining. It was a departure from the ordinary to the extraordinary with ideas for hosting, decorating and culinary delights. But, champagne is not just a party aperitif. It is a versatile, food-friendly wine that can be served frequently with your favorite fare.
