Bar of the Week: ETHYLS ALCOHOL AND FOOD on the UES for a Cool Retro Vibe

Are you looking for a different type of spot on the Upper East Side? If so, gather your group. Fun, food, drink and entertainment is happening at Ethyl's Alcohol and Food the lively, retro-style bar that brings a 1970's scene to life. We went by Ethyl's on a Thursday night for a quick bite and drinks and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, a casual bar scene with a cool disco vibe. Ethyl's is a popular spot that has just celebrated their one-year anniversary in the neighborhood.

Play a little bingo, listen to some disco favorites, or kick back and watch a video that you haven't seen in a while like "Network." View a few segments of "The Price is Right" and guess what that old stereo unit or Cadillac was once worth. And be sure to check out the weekly performance schedule that includes live musical entertainment.

Ethyl's serves a menu of cleverly themed, well-balanced cocktails like their "Bump & Grind" with a blend of Rye, Ginger Syrup, Sweet Vermouth, Lemon Juice and Burlesque Bitters or their "Marilyn's Chamber" made with Vodka, Raspberry Syrup, Lemon Juice, Agave and Sage. For those that prefer, there's a nice selection of beer, wine and house shots.

We like the food menu by Chef Joel Luna, with appetizers, sandwiches and sides that pair nicely with drinks. Where else in the city can you get a burger for $5.00? Yes, their Fi-Dolla Burger is delicious and comes with a choice of toppings for just a little more. Other selections include Frickles, their fried pickles with buttermilk ranch dip; Nachos; Crispy Calamari with chimichurri aioli; Disco Curds, fried cheese with rich brown gravy; Herb Fries, and more. One of the house favorites is the Hot Chicken Bun with crispy corn flake fry, crying cayenne and pickle chips.

Ethyl's has just announced their Happy Hour specials. Every weekday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm you can indulge in one of the best deals in town. Food items, beer, wine and well drinks are only $5.00 each.
