Bar of the Week: CAMACHO'S in Union Square

Find out what the buzz is all about. Camacho's is a vibrant new taqueria and tequila bar that just opened this spring in the Union Square neighborhood. They offer authentic Mexican cuisine by Chef Fernando Camacho and a cocktail program that has been created by Liquid Lab NYC's Parker Boase and Gregory Lucas. It's an easy choice for our "Bar of the Week."

Camacho's is festive, colorful and cozy, perfect for date night or a friends outing. We like the seating options. Gather at the bar, relax at a high top table, or take your place at one of the swing seats along the window. It's also a top spot to visit before or after a show at one of the many local theaters. You'll like the neon wall sign that ideal for selfies, "Tequila Makes Me Take My Clothes Off." It's part of the playful atmosphere at the venue.

The beverage program includes signature cocktails like their "Bad Hombre," a tempting variety of margaritas, micheladas, red or white sangria, and Sangritas. Camacho's has an extensive array tequila and mescal with 99 bottles.

The food menu has sharable small plates and more. Traditional Mexican Street fare, expertly prepared and presented, includes Mexican street corn, burritos, yucca fritas and a variety of tacos. Dips like fresh made salsas, queso fundito and guacamole are some of the best we've had.

Stop by for a drink, or plan your next meal at Camacho's. Check out their Happy Hour Monday to Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. And they have just launched their "Nacho Mama's Brunch" on the weekends. You'll soon agree that Camacho's is one of the most welcoming bar and restaurant destinations in the Union Square neighborhood
