Taboon is tops on our list of favorite restaurants in Hell's Kitchen. Located on 10th Avenue at 52nd Street, this modern Middle Eastern restaurant has gourmet options that will tantalize your taste buds and satisfy your cravings for the finest Mediterranean cuisine. Serving dinner and Sunday brunch, we like that they also have a pre-theatre and post-theatre dinner special with three courses for $38.00.

Taboon offers al fresco dining, a spacious dining room and a welcoming bar. The stylish décor makes for a totally relaxing mood with soft lighting and natural woods. We stopped by on a Thursday night and we were glad to have reservations. Taboon has a loyal following and a growing number of fans.

With their excellent beverage program, try a refreshing cocktail like the Minty Maya with Milano Green Vodka or their Illuminati with Tequila Blanco. Their selection of fine wines by the glass or bottle includes Israeli selections. Servers are happy to suggest perfect pairings for your menu choices.

Executive Chef Efraim Nahon has created a menu that is sure to delight. Whether you're in the mood to be adventurous with your meal or you prefer traditional choices, there is something for everyone. We suggest you start your culinary adventure with House Foccacia, fluffy and warm baked in their wood-fired taboon oven. Appetizers or "mezze" include tender Spanish Octopus, Zucchini Cakes, Black Iron Shrimp and their Burrata. These items also work wonderfully for guests who wish to stop by for a drink and small plates.

Soup and salads give you a light meal option or are perfect starters like their Beet and Halumi with baby kale or Soup of the Day. The entrée menu has such a tempting selection, you will definitely want to come back to sample another dish. The Terra Cotta lamb Kebabs are a house favorite. This is a Mediterranean pot pie with colorado ground lamb, charred onion, plum tomatoes and pine nuts baked covered by a flatbread dome. We highly suggest the Chicken Taboon with organic french-cut breast, homemade chicken sausage, frikeeh risotto, duck confit roasted carrots, cipollini onion and turnips. There are also wonderful seafood options like Branzino and their Heraime, taboon baked halibut. The presentation of the menu items is as wonderful as the perfectly seasoned flavors.

Don't leave Taboon without trying something special from the dessert menu. We loved their Date Sponge Cake, a warm cake soaked in a Meyer's rum sauce, topped with date and pecan compote, and served with double English cream and fig reduction.

After one visit to Taboon, you will vow to return. The inviting atmosphere and delicious food is complemented by their gracious and attentive service that makes you feel right at home.
