Discover a charming restaurant, Jacques 1534, on Prince Street just steps from Nolita. This stylish pub is a place where you can linger with friends at the bar, or enjoy brunch, lunch and dinner in their cozy, comfortable dining spaces. Their late night menu is perfect for people who are out and about in the neighborhood or wish to enjoy a tasty snack after the theater.
Jacques 1534 features creative French cuisine using the finest, locally sourced ingredients. Their exquisite cocktails, liquors, fine wines and selection of beer compliment menu selections. The original beverage menu includes seasonal choices. We enjoyed their refreshing Avua de Vida ($12) with Cachara, Raspberries, Blackberries and Simple Syrup. Their Farmhouse Cheese Board ($17) is wonderful with drinks or ideal for table sharing.
Starters include their signature French Onion Soup ($9), a traditional favorite, and Crispy Artichokes ($10) with Creme Fraiche, Meyer Lemon Aioli and Parsley. Or, try their Black Kale Salad ($14) with Caesar Dressing and Parmesearn Toast to begin your meal.
Main courses are generous and beautifully presented. Braised Short Ribs ($24) are some of the best we have had, flavorful and tender. The Grilled Salmon ($24) is a favorite on the menu served with Butternut Squash Puree, Brussel Sprouts, Smoked Bacon and Pumpkin Seed Oil. And, there are Sides ($7) that complement entrees including their popular Truffle Fries.
The service is attentive and gracious. Our waiter was delighted to discuss the menu options and help us to select the perfect wine for our meals.
A touch of France meets Prince Street in New York City. The attractive relaxed atmosphere, delightful cuisine, and excellent service will make you vow to return to Jacques 1534 again and again.
