BWW Reviews: DOPO EAST in New York City - An Extraordinary Brunch

Brunch excellence!! Visit Dopo East in New York City, a lovely spot on East 62rd Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues. The location is ideal for get-togethers in the neighborhood and when shopping or visiting the area. It will quickly become your favorite brunch spot.

Dopo East is renowned for their gourmet Italian cuisine. Their traditional and creative contemporary fare uses the finest fresh, seasonal and organic ingredients. Their new brunch menu has delectable specials. The choices are tempting and will satisfy everyone in your party whether they prefer breakfast style choices or luncheon selections. For guests who prefer, they also offer their regular menu during brunch hours.

The ambiance lends just the right mood for a relaxing meal. Dopo East's beautiful brownstone has a chic, airy dining room with lovely artwork lining the walls. For Al freso dining, their garden area is absolutely charming with flowering plants and patio furnishings.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and started our meal with their specialty Mimosas that include refreshing fresh fruit choices like Kiwi, Blood Orange, and Mango and their house baked Croissants (2 for $8), light and buttery. Salumi e Formaggi ($18) pairs Italian cold cuts and fresh cheeses for table sharing. The Frittata Di Cipolle ($14) has the mild flavor of onion that blends perfectly with the traditional dish. Egg dishes go nicely with sides like Bacon or Sausage ($5). Their Salmone All Griglia ($24), grilled salmon is served with tender sautéed spinach. Signature fresh home-made pastas are ideal for brunch including their Lasagna ($19) and Spaghetti alla Carbonara ($18).

Our server, Abdul, was very gracious and helpful. We appreciated his wonderful suggestions for our meal and his perfect wine pairings. Dopo East features premium wines by the glass and also 700 labels by the bottle.

Top off your brunch with coffee and the finest sweets like Tiramisu ($10) or Panna Cotta ($8). Once you visit Dopo East, brunch will never be the same. It's a touch of Tuscany on the Upper East Side that you will return to again and again.
