The most picturesque views of the Hudson River are yours at BTH (By The Hudson). Now open on West 125th Street in Harlem, the area is quickly rising as a popular restaurant district. BTH features delicious cuisine in an atmosphere that is absolutely stunning. One visit to BTH will not be enough.
BTH is an easy destination by subway, cab, bus or car with free parking right next door offered to guests. Their distinctive modern décor features a wave wall that subtly changes colors and illuminates the restaurant and lounge with natural hues: a perfect complement to the restaurant's waterfront location.
BTH's circular bar is wonderful for enjoying drinks and the view, but also offers the comfort to enjoy small plates or a full meal. We visited on a weekday evening and started our meal by the bar with a few cocktails by expert Mixologist, John Di Iorio. Their Mysterious Mistress ($15) has Southern Comfort, fresh mint & rosemary, fresh lime, fresh orange and pinea, and their Fire Cracker ($15) is made with Tito's Vodka, fresh lemonade, fresh basil, fresh watermelon and cayenne pepper.
Sommelier, Chris Sapienza can help you make the best wine selection for perfect menu pairings or help select champagne by the bottle. There is a great selection of craft beer ($8) like Ithaca Apricot Wheat or Shiner Black Lager.
Chef Lusianie Otero will both please and surprise guests with her award-winning culinary expertise. She creates a menu with just the right choice of appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and desserts. Even traditional items have a flair that makes them truly taste sensations. Try the Tuna Avacado Tartare ($13) with citrus soy or the Caesar Salad ($11) that takes the classic to a new level. The BTH Signature Seafood Tower (MP) has all the favorites, beautifully presented. Their soups, Pumpkin Leek ($9) and Roasted Corn Chowder ($9) are comforting blends you won't taste anywhere else. The appetizer menu includes Lobster Mac & Cheese ($14) and a Slider Trio ($12) that are delectable small bites.
For entrees we suggest their Wild n' Salmon ($24), served with Black Wild Rice and pineapple-tomato compote. Also consider their savory Wild Mushroom & Truffle Risotto ($22) or The Lamb ($28), tender and tasty, crusted with rosemary and red peppercorn and served with lemon fingerling potatoes.
Save room for dessert and relax over coffee or an aperitif. Selections like their luscious Key Lime Pie are incomparable.
The service at BTH will make you feel at home while being incredibly gracious. Don't hesitate to discuss the menu and your dietary preferences when ordering.
BTH is also available for special occasion bookings and they serve weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Outdoor seating is planned for the warm weather in 2015. For more information, menus and to contact BTH, visit their web site at www.bythehudson.com or call 212-222-BTH1.
