New York Shakespeare Exchange (NYSX), creator of the viral smash The Sonnet Project announced the first two ShakesBEER pub crawls for 2015. They will be held on Saturday, June 6 and Saturday, June 13. So gather your group for an afternoon of drinks while enjoying terrific entertainment.
ShakesBEER combines the excitement of fine live theater with the fun of visiting New York City pubs and enjoying beer and eats. ShakesBEER is the city's original Shakespearean Pub Crawl and lasts for three-hours. The event features plenty of Bard to go with your beer, wine or cocktails. The crawl is divided between four bars, with Shakespearian scenes breaking out at each location. The actors are shoulder-to-shoulder with the audience, drawing them in and making this experience about as "up-close and personal" as Shakespeare gets.
Shakespeare's heated passions are the focus of these start-of-summer crawls, featuring scenes from As You Like It, Love's Labors Lost, and Romeo & Juliet. The event culminates in a mash-up of Shakespeare's great scenes about spurned love. The featured actors include Vince Gatton, Brian Cheng, Adam Donshik, Jeff Hathcoat, Kim Krane, Kelli Ruttle, and Amy Jo Jackson. The scenes are directed by Cristina Lundy and Kristi Dana.
The event kicks off at Albion Bar (575 Second Avenue, at 32nd Street) before moving on to Rose Hill Tavern (337 Third Avenue, at 25th Street), Tavern on Third (380 Third Avenue, at 27th Street), and ending at Tonic East (411 Third Avenue, at 29th street). Admission is $45, which includes four drink tickets redeemable for beer, wine and selected cocktails at the participating bars. Food is available for purchase.
Check-in begins at 2:30 PM at Albion Bar for the 3 PM kick off. Tickets are available at www.shakespeareexchange.org or at the door. Advance booking is strongly recommended.
New York Shakespeare Exchange (NYSX) offers theatrical programming that explores what happens when contemporary culture is infused with Shakespearean poetry and themes in unexpected ways. Providing fresh points of entry to the work so that modern audiences will be exposed to the intrinsic power of Shakespeare, NYSX's goal is to encourage appreciation of classical theater and to expand the reach of the art form within new and existing audiences.
