Broadwayworld.com has been on the road to Eastern Pennsylvania. Paupack Blueberry Farm is located in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. They have a charming shop that sells the finest homemade items including ice cream, blueberry turnovers, jams, jellies and relishes. They also carry a nice selection of themed gift items. The farm is in a lovely country setting where you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the area while having a scoop of blueberry ice cream, a cup of tea and a blueberry scone or a light lunch.

And in late July, the fields open for pick-your-own blueberries. It is an exciting time when people from all over the region travel to Paupack to gather the delicious fruit.

Paupack Blueberry Farm has been owned and operated for over 50 years by the Coutts family. Four siblings, Carol Morgan, Debbie Lloyd, Kevin Coutts and Kenny Coutts and their spouses work together to operate the business. The farm is now exclusively available for guests to pick their own blueberries.

Our readers should know that blueberries are a "superfood" that you can add to your morning cereal, yogurt, blended smoothie drinks or for snacking. They have one of the highest antioxidant capacities among all fruits, vegetables, spices or seasonings. Blueberries are a very good source of Vitamin K, Manganese, Vitamin C and a good source of copper and fiber. A one-cup serving of blueberries is only eighty-three calories and only five of those calories are calories from fat. They are considered high in sugar. But because it is a natural sugar derived from the berry itself, there is no need to add any sweeteners when eating blueberries.

Paupack Blueberry Farm makes enjoying this healthy fruit a total pleasure. And those who visit the farm will appreciate the fact that there are over 15 varieties available for picking, far more types than you can ever get on your grocer's shelf. The farm provides pails for picking but you should bring containers for taking your fresh blueberries home.

Paupack Blueberry Farm also makes gift baskets and has an online ordering service. Visit their web site for great recipes for "Shirley's Blueberry Muffins," Cheesecake and Blueberry Bread Pudding and Blueberry Cheesecake.

Paupack Blueberry Farm is located on 184 Gumbletown Road, Paupack, Pennsylvania 18451. To learn more about the farm and operating hours, call them at (570) 226-9702 and visit their web site at http://www.paupackblueberryfarm.com/.
