Brother Jimmy's, New York City's born and bred Southern-themed icon, announced today it will be commemorating its 25th Anniversary with a 25-day campaign, starting November 1st. Brother Jimmy's celebrates its evolution from a single, simple Southern bar with authentic food to a well-recognized brand consistently delivering genuine Southern hospitality at 11 locations in New York City, New Brunswick, NJ, White Plains, NY, San Juan, Puerto Rico and Miami. The silver anniversary-inspired campaign will roll back prices on certain signature dishes to 1989 menu prices (almost a 50% reduction), offer $25 credits toward uptown delivery orders and reward 25 couples who met at a Brother Jimmy's with 25 prizes, the grandest being all-expense paid vacations to San Juan, Miami and St. Maarten, the site of the brand's next venture.
Founded in 1989 when BBQ was nearly non-existent in Manhattan, Brother Jimmy's has come to define Southern hospitality in the heart of New York City with "down home" food - including their famous fall-off-the-bone ribs and finger-licking pulled pork - always served up with cold beer, garnished with Rock-n-Roll, Blues and Country music, and presented by a staff who never met a stranger who didn't instantly become a friend. Jimmy Goldman created Brother Jimmy's based on fond food memories forged while attending college in North Carolina. Along with his idea to create a definitive destination for watching ACC sports, Goldman gathered Southern recipes from friends and family and brought them to New York City along with complementary beverages like Cheerwine and Natural "Natty". Soon thereafter, Goldman opened on 1st Avenue the initial BBQ emporium to bear his name, and New Yorkers quickly embraced the concept making the brand what it is today.
"Generations of New Yorkers have made Brother Jimmy's their home away from home. Our locations serve as the backdrop for a slew of memories ranging from Super Bowl celebrations to wedding proposals," said Goldman. "I'm happy that a whole new generation will make their own Brother Jimmy's-induced memories during the next quarter century."
Since memories made Brother Jimmy's part of the fabric of New York City, Goldman is launching a call to action to find 25 couples who have gotten married or had children as a result of meeting at one of its locations. Past and present customers and employees are encouraged to send their Brother Jimmy's meet-cutes to brojsbbq@berkcommunications.com and jimmyg@brotherjimmys.com (Goldman himself wants to hear all these personal accounts) for their chance to win one of 25 prizes, including those all-expense paid vacations to San Juan, Miami and St. Maarten. Other prizes range from dinner for 25 guests and open bar for 25, to a Brother Jimmy's catered experience for 25 people.
To salute the 25th anniversary milestone, Brother Jimmy's will also turn back prices to 1989 with a Heritage Menu, available November 1st to 25th at all five Manhattan locations. It will feature original favorites, including: Pulled Pork Sandwiches, $7.25 ($12 in 2014); Pulled Pork Dinners, $11.95 (currently $17.50), a dozen Buffalo Wings, $5.95 ($11.50) and Hush Puppies, $3.95 ($7.75). Brother Jimmy's will also bring back 1989 recipes with the Northern Style Ribs, $14.95 ($23.75), smoked over hickory wood for 8-10 hours. And the Heritage Menu will reintroduce the popular Flaming Pig Pick - for only $12.95 diners will savor a collection of rib tips, wings, pulled pork, hush puppies and frickles. To wash down their choices, Heritage Menu indulgers will be able to take advantage of $1 Budweiser cans and $3 shots of Jack Daniels.
In an effort to encourage customers to bring the Brother Jimmy's experience home, the two uptown Manhattan locations - West Side and 2nd Avenue - will offer them a $25 credit on their first delivery during the 25th Anniversary campaign, essentially guaranteeing their first delivered meal is free!
Goldman hopes to highlight the brand's evolution over the past quarter century while honoring the traditions Brother Jimmy's customers have come to expect. "The past 25 years have been an incredible journey for Brother Jimmy's and we are forever thankful to our loyal customers for their patronage," said Goldman. "Here's to the next generation! And to the memories and good times we will continue to make together!"
