BWW Preview: DA TOMMY OSTERIA Hosts Vegetarian Dinner with Green Thumb Farm

To kick of the fall season, the West Village's cozy da Tommy Osteria will go green on September 19th and 20th, when the rustic Italian restaurant will partner with Southampton's organic Green Thumb Farm to present a six-course vegetarian dinner designed by Executive Chef Alfio Longo to be as appealing to carnivores as it is to vegetarians. The "Green Thumb Farm in the Village Dinner" will feature such organic veggie-centric dishes as: Heirloom Beets Carpaccio, aged goat cheese, herb salad, balsamic vinaigrette; Zucchini Cake, Parmesan Fondue, Truffle and Trofie Basil Pesto - the chef's signature showcasing his award-winning Genovese style pesto with potato and sting beans, in addition to the basil, garlic, pine nuts and pecorino. Each selection can be accompanied by organic Italian wines specially selected for the dinner by the restaurant's owner, Tommaso "Tommy" Roncari.

Roncari and Longo were prompted to produce the vegetarian meal by two factors. The first being the fact da Tommy's regular menu has a number of tempting vegetarian offerings that diners frequently enjoy. The second is the German-born, Italian-trained Longo's admiration for and appreciation of the local seasonal produce available to him. Having developed a relationship with Green Thumb Farm, it was a natural or Longo to team with the operation to showcase its products.

The "Green Thumb Farm in the Village Dinner" at da Tommy Osteria, an organic vegetarian experience, will be open to just 50 participants each night on Monday, September 19th (now sold out!) and Tuesday, September 20th at 7 p.m. The price for the six-course dinner is $57.25 including tax and gratuity. Optional organic wines for an additional $25.*
