Smatch III at The Brussels City Theatre

SMATCH is a three-part project by the Liège theatre-maker Dominique Roodthooft in response to today’s prophets of doom. She invites us to take a playful approach to reflecting on the complexity of the world and to writing our own stories – so that religions, the free market economy and the communication industries don’t have to do it for us. Reflection and light-heartedness here go hand in hand, as do anecdote and philosophy, poetry and politics.

SMATCH III launches into the field of power and the deceptive freedom that goes with it. It is a quest for converting this external ‘power’ into inner ‘strength’. For this trilogy Roodthooft is joining forces with the philosopher Vinciane Despret, the KVS actress Mieke Verdin and others. They are accompanied by scientists, artists and other thinkers.
