The Toronto Production of the Tony Award Winning Musical JERSEY BOYS closed last Sunday, August 22nd after a successful two year run. BWW brings you pictures from this very special evening.

Jersey Boys has been a smash hit musical ever since it opened on Broadway in 2006. Critically acclaimed and warmly received by the public, the show now has productions running in many different cities, including a very successful and wonderfully talented Canadian Cast. The Toronto Production comes to a close this Sunday August 22nd, 2010 after two years at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. In honour of the show's closing BWW is taking a look back at some of the unique and fun events the Toronto Production has done during its run, and also sat down to talk with Dancap President Aubrey Dan about saying goodbye to the show, and about what comes next:

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the biggest Fringe Festival in the world, and Canada's Cabaret Superstar Sharron Matthew's is taking her show there for the first time ever. Once she arrived in Scotland she sat down to talk with BWW about the excitment of participating in EdFringe, Alan Cumming, Taylor the Latte Boy and WORLD DOMINATION!

The National Tour of the Tony Award Winning smash hit South Pacific is coming to Toronto in August as part of Dancap Production's inaugural Summer Broadway Series, and casting was recently announced for this much anticipated show.

Love Loss and What I Wore is an off-Broadway hit, and I went to see it before it has its Canadian premiere next week in Toronto. A wonderfully fun, touching and poignant show - I think Canadian women will have a great time experiencing this unique theatrical event.

The 31st Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2009/2010 Season were handed out in a star-studded ceremony on the evening of Monday, June 28th in Toronto. Broadway veteran Jonathan Crombie was a last-minute addition to Joe White and the Seven Divorcees which is currently playing at Toronto's Fringe Festival. Jitters is a comedic play that examines the state of Canadian culture and the lives of its frontline practitioners. Based on playwright David French's own opening night experiences and mishaps, it has been called one of the funnies backstage comedies ever written. BWW spoke with Noah Reid and C. David Johnson about the current state of the Arts in Canada, young people and the theatre and (of course) their own opening night 'Jitters'

The Canadian Premiere of the Off-Broadway hit Love, Loss and What I Wore is happening July 16th in Toronto with an all-star Canadian Cast. BWW's Kelly Cameron has teamed up with the Love, Loss and What I Wore Toronto team to offer readers a chance to win a pair of tickets to see this dynamic show.

The first night of Luminato culminated with a free dance party at Yonge Dundas Square featuring Sass Jordan, Melanie Fiona and Jully Black. Luminato continues until June 20th with loads more fun (and free) activities for the whole family.

The Waves Festival is a free event that is part of Luminato and takes place the weekend of June 18th. The award-winning Young Centre for the Arts is transformed into a playground of artistic pleasure as 12 Resident Arists and 100 Canadian artists come together to create new and exciting works of art. BWW sat down with Suba Sankaran who is one of the 12 Resident Artists to discuss what the Waves Festival is all about.

Luminato takes Toronto by storm starting Friday, June 11th, with tons of exciting theatre programming to be had. Artistic Director Chris Lorway sat down with BWW to discuss the various theatre programming the Festival is offering.

The West Side Story Suite began this weekend and is presented by the National Ballet of Canada. It is part of Luminato, The Toronto Festival for the Arts and Creativity. Sharron Matthews is getting ready to take over the world CABARET STYLE! Well-known in Canada as one of the country's greatest Cabaret artists, Sharron has been wowing Toronto audiences with her unique Cabaret evenings and amazing vocal styling for years, and now she is taking her show on the road for her World Domination tour! Sharron landed in NYC on Monday and plays her first gigs at Joe's Pub this weekend! After arriving in NYC she spoke with BWW about her Cabaret style performances, and about her love of all things New York!

Glee is a worldwide smash hit, and recently started accepting video submissions for a guest star spot on the show. One of the videos by Toronto native Jeigh Madjus has taken the Internet by storm, with Perez Hilton and The Advocate promoting it under the now popular term 'Gays for Glee'. Jeigh sat down and talked to BWW and his audition, his love for Glee and his views on being a homosexual actor.

Faith Healer opened on April 29th 2010 at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts. A masterwork of twentieth-century Irish drama, the show is a disturbing and humourous mediation on relationships and the truth/lies that bind us together. BWW talks with Stuart Hughes about the production, as well as his personal experiences with faith, love, loss and life after death.

Soulpepper's newest production, Waiting for the Parade, opened on May 5th to rave reviews. John Murrel's Canadian play about the lives and loves of five Canadian women on the home front during WWII has had many successful incarnations over the years, and the latest exploration from Soulpepper is proving to be no exception. Krystin Pellerin (of The Republic of Doyle) is one of the five women featured in the production, and she sat down to talk with BWW about her return to the stage and her role in the Soulpepper family.
