Broadway's holiday smash hit, The Illusionists, has returned to New York City with an all new show and a cast featuring three thrilling new magicians making their debut on the Great White Way! This fast-paced, wildly entertaining show, featuring seven of the world's greatest magicians, broke box office records when it made its Broadway debut last year-and now this jaw-dropping show returns with all-new mind-blowing magic, death-defying stunts and acts of breathtaking wonder. The Color Purple just began preview performances last last week at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45th street). Grammy, Academy Award, and Golden Globe award winner JENNIFER HUDSON makes her Broadway debut opposite CYNTHIA ERIVO, the breakout star ofJohn Doyle's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory production, and Orange is the New Black's DANIELLE BROOKS, in this fall's highly anticipated production. The New Group presents the world premiere of STEVE, a new play by Mark Gerrard. Directed by Cynthia Nixon, this production features Ashlie Atkinson and Francisco Pryor Garat, and as announced, Mario Cantone, Jerry Dixon,Malcolm Gets and Matt McGrath. A limited Off-Broadway engagement plays now through December 27 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street). The Young Vic's critically-acclaimed production of Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge, directed by Ivo van Hove, opened just last night, November 12, at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45th Street). The production, which swept the 2015 Olivier Awards -- winning for Best Revival, Best Director, and Best Actor (Mark Strong), will play an 18-week limited engagement through Sunday, February 21, 2016. As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, theater producer Don Gregory, best known for his solo shows on Broadway, passed away yesterday, November 10th at the age of 80 at his home in Boca Raton, FL. According to his son, the cause of death was a stroke.
