Stephen Sorokoff

Stephen is also the cabaret/ music and co-theatre editor of the Times Square Chronicles. He studied at the Manhattan School of Music. Besides being a pianist, Stephen’s business career was in the Fashion Industry. He was CEO of a textile manufacturing facility and President of an international textile machinery company. Stephen was on the Board of Directors of the “First All Children’s Theatre” which brought the Stephen Schwartz musical The Trip and Captain Louie to the Kennedy Center in Wash DC. His wife Eda, an interior space designer and classical pianist is Board Emeritus at Board of Barrington Stage Company and is still active at BSC. Stephen’s articles and photographs, appear on Broadwayworld.com, Times Square Chronicles where is is the music editor.  He is a voting member of the Berkshire Theatre Critics Association. When Clint Holmes walks out on any stage the space immediately transforms into one of those superstar entertainment venues in Las Vegas, (ground zero for some of the world’s most thrilling performers). That’s how it was in the Razz Room in Boca last night as the man who keeps better time than my Apple Watch and who can’t sing a note or make a gesture that isn’t dazzling and exciting gave a special gift to the Boca audience.

Possessing an alluring and coquettish voice, melodically comfortable in many music styles Debbie is a dynamic performer.

Rob Russell ( Mr. Palm Beach) interrupted her dinner and invited KT up to join local singing sensation Alexandra Lewis and famed pianist Rick Krieve (Deana Martin MD).

After a long period of not performing, due to the pandemic, he reunited his Tedd Firth Trio, playing to a packed SRO room, at the BIRDLAND THEATRE.  In a space where Tedd has often played for others, the master pianist/arranger played a solo gig.

However, one of the legendary venues and it’s main attraction for the Christmas/New Years entertainment tradition is missing. Cafe Carlyle and Steve Tyrell. Since 2005 Steve has been a fixture in the Cafe at this time of year but Cafe Carlyle has not re-opened yet so Steve made a brief one night stop over during his current tour to entertain his legions of fans at SONY Hall last night.

Peter Cincotti owned the piano in Birdland last night and it wasn’t because his name was temporarily affixed to the legendary 7 foot Yamaha for his engagement.   Imagine Billy Joel, Harry Connick Jr., Lang Lang, Manilow, and Jerry Lee Lewis on the same piano bench and it will give you an idea of the kind of exciting music at a Cincotti performance.
