Variety reports that Blake Lively-led 'The Rhythm Section,' which was scheduled to be released in November, will not be released until late January.

Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) and Entertainment One Ltd. (LSE: ETO) (eOne) today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Hasbro will acquire eOne in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately '3.3 billion or US$4.0 billion. Under the terms of the agreement, eOne shareholders will receive '5.60 in cash for each common share of eOne, which represents a 31% premium to eOne's 30-day volume weighted average price (VWAP) as of August 22, 2019.

Deadline reports that 'Muppets Now,' a new short-form Muppet series, will premiere on Disney Plus in 2020. The news was announced today at Disney's D23, during a ceremony where many, many new series were revealed for the new streaming platform.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Ewan McGregor will officially be donning his Jedi robes once more. Disney confirmed plans for an upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series at D23 today. 

This afternoon, Disney+ made its D23 Expo debut with its first-ever showcase presentation, announcing six new series in development and revealing key details about the highly anticipated streaming service to an enthusiastic audience at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim. The event showcased the sweeping array of talent with in-person and video appearances from the stars of Disney+'s slate of originals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic and included sneak peeks, trailer premieres, and exclusive news about the service and its upcoming projects. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown, who stars in the Disney+ original film “Lady and the Tramp,” hosted the lively presentation, welcoming Kevin Mayer, chairman, Direct-to-Consumer & International, to the stage to kick off the show.

According to Engadget.com, Disney+ has announced it is developing series surrounding 'Ms. Marvel' and 'She-Hulk.' They also discussed upcoming Marvel series 'The Falcon and Winter Soldier,' 'Loki,' 'Wandavision,' 'Hawkeye' and 'What If...?' 

Today, Grammy-nominated country singer/songwriter Ty Herndon released his highly anticipated album Got It Covered via BFD/The Orchard. The album release is accompanied by a new video for the song 'So Small' — Taste of Country called the track (originally co-written and sung by Carrie Underwood) 'arguably the most important song on [Got It Covered].' The video features the youth of The Rainbow Squad, a Nashville-based group based around providing a safe space and community resources for LGBTQ+ kids.

Variety reports that Michael Shannon will play self-made millionaire and former Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss in HBO's “The Untitled Showtime Lakers Project” pilot.  The series is based on Jeff Pearlman's book “Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s.”

LA's Rose Dorn have released their debut album Days You Were Leaving (Bar None Records) today, August 23. The album has been named as a 'notable release' by both NPR and Stereogum.

Variety reports that Netflix has ordered new episodes of 'Brews Brothers' from Greg and Jeff Schaffer. The new comedy series will consist of eight episodes. 

After an extremely tough year, critically-acclaimed multi-platinum musical phenomenon Walk Off the Earth returns with the new uplifting original pop single 'I'll Be There,' their response to the last year coping with the heartbreaking and unexpected loss of band member Mike 'Beard Guy' Taylor. The track is off their highly anticipated forthcoming full-length album of original songs to be released on October 25 via RED MUSIC. 

Deadline reports that 'Lizzie McGuire' will get a reboot at Disney Plus. The beloved series ran on Disney Channel in the early 2000s and starred Hilary Duff as the titular middle schooler. 

Variety reports that a Phineas and Ferb movie is in the works at Disney+. The film, 'Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe,' will be released in 2020.

Deadline reports that frequent Disney collaborator Ming-Na Wen has joined the cast of 'The Mandalorian' on Disney+. Wen appears on ABC's 'Agents of Shield'and provided the speaking voice of 'Mulan' in the original film. The 'Star Wars' series for will be her third Disney property.

Deadline reports that Kit Harington, star of HBO's 'Game of Thrones,' has signed on to a so far unspecified film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Details about which film or what character Harington will portray has not yet been announced. 

According to Variety, Travis Scott has revealed his new Netflix documentary in an Instagram post. The picture invited fans to meet him at the Movie Exchange on 11200 Northwest Freeway in his hometown of Houston, Texas.

Baby Shakes will release their new album Cause a Scene on September 20. Coming up through the last vestiges of the mythically grimy NYC rock bar terrain, the band's scroungy power pop sounds pay homage to original wave punk greats like the Nerves, the Beat, the Kids; early Bangles and Go-Gos; snarly proto-grrls, the Runaways; and of course and forever, the Ramones. The band has announced live dates in the US and Japan, with stops in NYC and Baltimore.
