Bill Irwin, currently portraying Vladimir in the Roundabout Theatre Company?s production of Waiting for Godot, has joined the already distinguished panel titled The Play?s the Thing, a discussion of the proliferation of plays during the 2008-09 theater seasons, which will be held Friday, June 12, 2009 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Sardi?s Restaurant, 234 West 44th Street, 4th Floor.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation announced that the recipient of the Noël Coward Fellowship will be Amy Anders Corcoran. The Noël Coward Fellowship was established in April of 2009 with funding from the Noël Coward Foundation. The fellowship is designed to provide early-career Members and Associates who have a proclivity for comedic work with the opportunity to develop professionally by assisting a Mentor Director on a major production of Noël Coward?s work.

Eclipse Theatre Company's 2009 season: The Celebration Series Part II continues with the Chicago Premiere of Pearl Cleage's latest work. Inspired by the long line of mourners who came by Ebenezer Baptist Church to pay their respects to Mrs. Coretta Scott King, A Song for Coretta introduces five fictional African-American women, aged 17 to 57, waiting in the rain to say their final good-byes. Cleage shows the impact that Mrs. King had on the lives of these women, and the connections that they build with one another through her memory and legacy. Previews take place on June 11, 12, 13 at 8:30 pm, ($5 Industry tickets available for all previews!). Opening night is Sunday, June 14 at 7 pm.

Academy AwardR-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black and leading news network CNN are set to be honored at the ninth annual Trevor New York gala on June 29 at Capitale in New York City. Event proceeds benefit The Trevor Project, the leading national organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.

Legendary actress Carroll Baker will be awarded the prestigious Medal of Honor at a dinner held in her honor at The National Arts Club in New York City. Baker, whose most notable film, Baby Doll (1956), garnered her a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, will join the esteemed ranks of previous honorees including Arthur Penn, Cliff Robertson, Sylvia Sydney, Martin Scorsese, Spike Lee, Whoopi Goldberg, Richard Dreyfuss, Danny Aiello, Lynn Redgrave, Olympia Dukakis and Norman Jewison.
