Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.

According to EW.com, Tony Awrd nominee Josh Gad will make an appearance on the third season of ABC's 'Modern Family.' Gad will play 'Kenny, a neighbor of the Dunphys who worships the ground that Phil (Ty Burell) walks stumbles on - and he's made all decisions in his life based on what Phil would do.'

GLEE star Jane Lynch will host the 2011 Emmy Awards on September 18. She'll be only the third female to host the show by herself in the history of the awards show- the others being Angela Lansbury and Ellen Degeneres. Lynch just told the Hollywood Reporter that she's trying to work the rest of the GLEE cast into the ceremony. Lynch told THR: 'I've pitched a couple of ideas for the Glee cast. I bet there will be an appearance.'

Asolo Repertory Theatre will hold a final audition for Non-Equity males on Wednesday, September 7, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for the season opener My Fair Lady. Auditions will be held in 5 minute slots in the Asolo Rep Rehearsal Hall, located within the Asolo Rep building. The production team is looking to cast the role of 4th Cockney. Expected age range for the role is early 20s to early 60s. The actor should be within baritone-bass vocal range, must be an excellent singer and have some dance and movement ability. Rehearsals will begin October 18. A flexible schedule is necessary from October to December as some day and weekend rehearsals and performances are required.

The musical opened at the Adelphi Theatre 9th March 2010, with previews from 20th Feb and closed down briefly last winter for a set of changes. For two decades Friends In Deed has offered emotional and spiritual support for all those affected by life threatening illness, caregiving and grief. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Friends In Deed, Emmy Award winner Sarah Jessica Parker and Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick will host 'A Little Jurassic Treasure Hunt,' a once-in-a-lifetime event on Monday, October 3, 2011. At this special benefit event, guests will form teams to trace clues through the American Museum of Natural History in a specially devised hunt created by legendary composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Following a cocktail reception in The Museum's Hall of Mammals, the hunt will take place in the Hall of Saurischian Dinosaurs and the Hall of Ornithischian Dinosaurs before a dinner reception in the Rose Center for Earth and Space. The dinner reception will feature performances of Mr. Sondheim's songs by Tony Award winner Barbara Cook and Tony nominee Raul Esparza.

Principal cast changes have been announced for the Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, the longest-running show in Broadway history. Produced by Cameron Mackintosh/Really Useful Group, Inc. and directed by Harold Prince, the musical phenomenon is in its unprecedented 24th year in New York, playing at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street). Three principal performers, all new to PHANTOM, will be joining the company over the course of the Labor Day holiday weekend.

The Wells Fargo Broadway In Eugene Education Fund has awarded $1,000 to Churchill High School in Eugene to support its theater education program in the 2011-12 school year. Churchill High School is partnering with members of the West End Performing Arts Academy to produce the student-directed musical Forever Plaid. Two performances are planned for the late spring of 2012. All aspects of the production will be student directed by Joshua King under the mentoring of Al Villanueva, a community choreographer and a volunteer technical mentor.

The NY Times reports that James Franco will not be participating in the upcoming revival of Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth alongside Nicole Kidman, as had previously been set. While no dates had been announced for the production, Kidman had been attached to the production officially as 'Alexandra', while the last reports indicate that Franco had all but signed on the dotted line for the role of 'Chance'. Back in January he told MTV that he planned to participate in the production, while later in the winter the revival's director David Cromer told the New York Times that he believed it was a done deal.

In celebration of the artist's 85th birthday, Columbia Records/RPM Records/Legacy Recordings will release Tony Bennett - The Complete Collection, an extraordinary compilation chronicling the entire career of the great American pop vocalist as documented in the albums and singles he's made for Columbia Records (beginning in 1952 through the present), as well as his recordings for Roulette (an historic encounter with Count Basie and Orchestra in 1959), MGM (1972-73), Improv (Bennett's own label from 1973-76) and Fantasy (a pair of sublime titles with pianist Bill Evans, released in 1975-76).
