The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and Theatre Communications Group (TCG) have announced the eleventh round of recipients for the New Generations Program, a grant initiative originally designed by both organizations in collaboration with The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Five theatres and five individuals were awarded over $700,000 this round, with more than $13.5 million in grants awarded to over 220 theatres and individuals in eleven rounds of this program.

According to the Toronto Star, Toronto's Dancap Productions has just announced the line-up for 2012. PRINCE OF BROADWAY, a new musical celebrating legendary Broadway director and producer Harold 'Hal' Prince, is in development now, aiming for a Toronto production in the summer of 2012, prior to opening on Broadway that fall. According to the Toronto Star, the production will feature a wide variety of material, including music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim..

The national tour of AMERICAN IDIOT kicks off in Toronto, ON at the Toronto Centre for the Arts presented by Dancap Productions Inc, and venues for the tour include: The Opera House in Detroit, MI; Opera House in Boston, MA; Memorial Auditorium in Raleigh, NC; Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, MN; Eisenhower Auditorium in State College, PA; Peabody Opera House in St. Louis, MO; Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, CA; Gammage Auditorium in Tempe, AZ; AT&T PAC in Dallas, TX; Segerstrom Center in Costa Mesa, CA; Paramount Theatre in Seattle, WA. According to the Toronto Star, the tour will feature Jake Epstein as Will and Talia Aaron and Gabriel Antonacci in the ensemble.

A special benefit performance of HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING on Thursday, October 6th raised $15,000 for THE TREVOR PROJECT. The performance featured a post-show talkback with star Daniel Radcliffe. Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, New York Theatre Workshop, and Friends of the Jenin Freedom Theatre announced today an evening of song, video and performance on October 30th, 2011 at 7:00pm to benefit the Freedom Theatre. Tickets are $100 and the event is hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winner Tony Kushner and featuring Academy Award-winner David Byrne, Pulitzer Prize-winner Suzan-Lori Parks, Grammy-winners Aimee Mann and Angelique Kidjo, Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald, Palestinian hip-hop group DAM, as well as a special performance by the acting company of The Freedom Theatre. The entire evening is directed by Jo Bonney.
