Eminent artists, friends and peers of this year's five honorees converged in Washington, D.C., on December 4 to present entertaining and heartfelt tributes at the 34th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, an entertainment special to be broadcast tonight on the CBS Television Network with Caroline Kennedy as host for the ninth consecutive year. According to a report in the New York Times, HAND OF GOD, which recently concluded an off-Broadway run at Ensemble Studio Theater, will return for their 2012 season in February for eight weeks. Additionally, the show, which is about a a Texas teenager and a demonic puppet, might make a transfer to Broadway in the 2012-13 season. NYT's Patrick Healy writes: 'Theater executives working on "Hand to God" said on Tuesday that among the producers considering the show were Kevin McCollum and Roy Miller, who have produced open-ended runs of new works, including the Broadway musicals "[title of show]" and "The Drowsy Chaperone."'

On an upcoming episode of the Food Network's 'Cupcake Wars,' four cupcake bakers battle for a place at the star-studded party for the Los Angeles opening of the hit Broadway musical 'Wicked.' Tune in for the special episode at 8pm on January 1 on the Food Network.

PBS's 'Great Performances' series has just announced the schedule for their previously announced 2012 line-up, which is set to feature a slew of theatre productions. Included in the season is LET ME DOWN EASY- a one-woman show featuring Anna Deavere Smith airing January 13; MEMPHIS- featuring original stars Montego Glover and Chad Kimball airing February 24; and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA- featuring Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess airing in March.

Broadway's T. Oliver Reid, who has starred in such shows as Mary Poppins, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and The Wedding Singer, will soon release his debut solo album titled, 'Do I Love You.' The album will be released on January 17 and is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com.

Today in 1976, the first Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof opened at the Winter Garden Theatre. Featuring music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, the story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. The original Broadway production of the show, which opened in 1964, had the first musical theatre run in history to surpass 3,000 performances. It spawned four Broadway revivals, a successful 1971 film adaptation, and the show has enjoyed enduring international popularity. Today in 1962, Broadway director and actor Joe Mantello was born. Mantello is perhaps best known for his work on Broadway productions of Wicked, Take Me Out and Assassins, as well as earlier in his career being one of the original Broadway cast of Angels in America. Godspell's Julia Mattison was joined by fellow cast members from Broadway's Godspell, in a holiday comedy rock show at the Beechman last week, December 19th. While it hasn't even debuted yet on NBC, according to NY Magazine, the musical within SMASH might be on its way to the Broadway stage. Jesse Green writes: 'If Smash is successful and gets renewed, the Marilyn musical should reach "Broadway" next winter-much faster than a real production would. But, even stranger, if the Marilyn musical is itself successful, producers hope to crack it out of its Smash shell and move it to the actual Broadway sometime thereafter.'

According to Baz Bamigboye in Daily Mail, Sinead Matthews and Ben Lloyd-Hughes are set to lead The Way Of The World at the Sheffield Crucible Theatre. The production begins previews on February 2 and runs through February 25.

As previously reported in October, Danny DeVito and Richard Griffiths will indeed star in Neil Simon's THE SUNSHINE BOYS, according to Baz Bamigboye for Daily Mail. The show will open in the West End in the end of April.

According to Baz Bamigboye for Daily Mail, a new musical based on the movie, 'Made in Dagenham,' is on its way to the West End in 2013. James Bond score writer David Arnold is on board to write the music for the show, with Richard Thomas writing the lyrics. A reading was held earlier this week, and a full workshop is set to take place in February.
