Today in 1946, the second Broadway revival of Showboat opened at the Ziegfeld Theatre, and ran for 418 performances. Show Boat is a musical in two acts with music by Jerome Kern and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. It was originally produced in New York in 1927 and in London in 1928, and was based on the 1926 novel of the same name by Edna Ferber. The plot chronicles the lives of those living and working on the Cotton Blossom, a Mississippi River show boat, from 1880 to 1927. The show's dominant themes include racial prejudice and tragic, enduring love.

The ever-popular Broadway musical Annie is lighting up Sydney's Lyric Theatre in an exciting new production produced John Frost. Returning to the role of New York ‘zillionaire' Daddy Warbucks will be one of Australia's greatest theatrical talents, Anthony Warlow, fresh from his success in the title role of the World Premiere of Doctor Zhivago. Show business legend Nancye Hayes will play the tyrannical Miss Hannigan who runs the orphanage where Annie begins her journey. This is the third Australian production of Annie that Nancye has been involved with, having played Lily St Regis in the original production and been Resident Director for the second.

Six theater artists will be honored by the Henry Hewes Design Awards Committee during the presentation of its 47th Annual Awards in a luncheon ceremony this winter. Eighty-six theater artists were nominated for outstanding work in 61 productions presented during the 2010-2011 New York season.

On Monday, January 16, 2012, Broadway's celebrated revival of John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse's Tony Award-winning musical CHICAGO will welcome back Mexican stage and screen sensation Bianca Marroquin in the starring role of Roxie Hart.

This award and scholarship will be presented to a Tri-State student in grades 6 through 12 who is pursuing an artistic dream. The prize will consist of a $500 scholarship provided by Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati's Education Fund.

Broadway star and Tribeca resident Judy Kuhn will perform songs from iconic 19th-century soprano Jenny Lind's fabled U.S. debut in a free concert celebrating two Lower Manhattan landmarks at the World Financial Center Winter Garden next month.

According to the New York Times, Oscar winner Tilda Swinton is currently collaborating with director Luca Guadagnino to create a film a remake of 'Auntie Mame.' Swinton woud play the title role in the movie.

Dubbing is the post-production process of recording and replacing voices on a motion picture or television soundtrack subsequent to the original shooting. According to TVLine, Broadway veteran and frequent GLEE guest star Jonathan Groff is set to visit CBS' 'The Good Wife' this winter. Groff will play 'Jimmy, a plaintiff suing a software company after his sister disappears during a peaceful protest in Syria.' The episode is set to air in February.

On Thursday, January 19th, Ghost the Musical will host The Ghost Light Sessions Live, a special sneak peek presentation at the historic Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
