Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

Back by 'Popular' demand, Broadway's biggest blockbuster, WICKED has returned to its Los Angeles home, the Pantages Theatre, for a strictly-limited engagement this holiday season running through January 29, 2012. When it first played the Pantages in 2005, it broke box office records and sold out in record time. WICKED returned two years later to begin an extended engagement that would go on to run two years, becoming one of the longest-running Broadway musicals in L.A. history. The National Theatre presents the third season of National Theatre Live (NT Live), a successful initiative to broadcast live performances from the National's stages to cinemas worldwide. In addition to the previously scheduled broadcasts of The Comedy of Errors (March 1), the season will include Travelling Light (February 9) and She Stoops to Conquer (March 29). The American Theatre Hall of Fame today announced the full list of 2012 inductees, which will included Broadway veterans Tyne Daly and Ben Vereen. Additional inductees will include directors Daniel Sullivan and Paul Sills, producers George White, Elliot Martin and Woodie King Jr., and costume designer Ann Roth.

Peter and the Starcatcher will begin preview performances on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre this Spring, and with off-Broadway cast memeber Christian Borle currently starring in NBC's SMASH, many have been wondering whether he will take part in the Broadway transfer. Now the New York Times has confirmed that Borle will reprise his role as Black Stache in the production.

Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center today officially announced an innovative program that allows artists of all disciplines the opportunity to exchange their creative services for medical care. The program, branded as the "Lincoln Art Exchange", is designed to address the growing number of independent and freelance artists who cannot afford to enroll in health insurance plans and have become an at-risk population that lacks access to quality health care. Accompanied by Tony and Grammy Awards winning actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hip Hop celebrity Roxanne Shante and representatives from arts and philanthropy organizations, Iris Jimenez-Hernandez, HHC Sr. Vice President and Lincoln Hospital Executive Director and Alan D. Aviles, HHC President and CEO, officially launched and gave details of the program during a press conference held in the lobby of the Bronx facility.

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of CLOSE UP SPACE, the new play by Molly Smith Metzler, directed by Leigh Silverman will end its limited engagement at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street) on Sunday, January 29. When it ends its run, it will have played 21 previews and 46 regular performances.

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre has just announced complete casting for Lost in Yonkers by Neil Simon, the final production of the company's 2011/12 season. Directed by TACT Co-Artistic Director Jenn Thompson, performances begin at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) on Tuesday, March 13th, 2012. Opening night is Thursday, March 22nd at 7:30pm. Performances will continue through Saturday, April 14th.
