This morning, COMIC BOOK RESOURCES exclusively announced that industry legend Ethan Van Sciver will be the new ongoing series artist for BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT.

MSG Entertainment and the Garden of Dreams Foundation has just announced Garden of Laughs, an unprecedented Garden of Dreams event to be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. Executive Produced by Emmy Award-winner, Rory Rosegarten, this one-night-only event will feature stand-up performances by some of the biggest names in comedy, including Adam Ferrara, Darrell Hammond, Robert Klein, Ray Romano and Wanda Sykes, with more comedians to be announced. The night of stand-up comedy is being created specifically to benefit the Garden of Dreams Foundation, a non-profit charity that works with all areas of The Madison Square Garden Company, including MSG Entertainment, Rangers, Knicks, Liberty, MSG Networks and Fuse.

Last fall, Theatre Development Fund (TDF) piloted the new program, Autism Theatre Initiative, as part of TDF's Accessibility Programs (TAP), to make theatre accessible to children and adults on the autism spectrum, and their families. They presented the first-ever autism-friendly performance of a Broadway show at Disney's landmark The Lion King on October 2, 2011 and followed that up with an autism-friendly performance of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins on April 29, 2012. On September 30, the cast of The Lion King took part in another autism-friendly performance, and Rod Thomas, an actor in the show, wrote about the experience from his perspective. As previously announced, this fall, Broadway's acclaimed record-breaking revival of the Tony Award-winning musical CHICAGO will welcome singer, songwriter, actor and multi-platinum recording artist Billy Ray Cyrus in his Broadway stage debut as 'that silver-tongued prince of the courtroom,' slick criminal lawyer Billy Flynn. Cyrus will play a limited seven-week engagement at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St.) this holiday season, Monday November 5 through Sunday, December 23. MOTOWN: THE MUSICAL, based on the life of legendary Motown founder Berry Gordy, will open on Broadway at The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46 Street) on April 14, 2013. Preview performances will begin March 11, 2013. Last night, the show held a launch event for the anticipated world premiere at Lunt Fontanne Theatre. Via a global webcast this morning, The Phantom of the Opera star Sarah Brightman, will, as rumoured, indeed be travelling into space in 2014 or 2015 for ten days on a voyage that will take her to the International Space Station. It was announced at the press conference that she had cleared all necessary medical tests, and at the completion of a 2013, 5 continent, 100 city tour would go straight into 6 months of training before her space flight. October 30th will see the release of ROADS, the highly anticipated debut album from classical crossover artist CHRIS MANN. ROADS arrives via Faircraft/Universal Republic, a new imprint headed up by multi-platinum producer and veteran A&R executive Ron Fair (Mary J. Blige, the Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, The Pussycat Dolls, Il Volo, Christina Aguilera), who also served as the album's executive producer.

Happy Birthday Ben Vereen! On Broadway, Ben Vereen has appeared in Wicked, I'm not Rappaport, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Pippin, Grind, Jelly's Last Jam, and A Christmas Carol. His role in Pippin garnered him both the prestigious Tony Award and the Drama Desk award for "Best Actor in a Musical."

According to the Toronto Star, the 2013 Stratford Shakespeare Festival will welcome back Jonathan Goad, Sara Topham, Stephen Ouimette, Dion Johnstone, Michelle Giroux and Paul Nolan.

According to Variety, Tony winner James Corden, has signed on to star in the BBC's 'The Wrong Man' series. THe six part comedy thriller will air on Hulu in 2013. Corden will play a 'lowly office worker Phil caught up in a criminal conspiracy involving a car crash.'

Decca Records/Universal Music announces the global signing of Franciscan Friar, Alessandro Brustenghi, from the original friary founded by Saint Francis of Assisi: the Porziuncola in Assisi. Alessandro is the first Friar in the history to land a major record deal. Palmetto Records recently released Tony Award winner and two-time Grammy nominee Betty Buckley's latest solo album, Betty Buckley: Ah, Men! The Boys of Broadway. Inspired by her critically acclaimed 2011 concert at Feinstein's at the Lowes Regency in New York City, Buckley reinterprets classic Broadway songs that were originally made famous by men. Emmy-winning composer Jim Dooley and lyricist Mike Himelstein have written the score (Dooley) and the songs (Dooley & Himelstein) for the first video game musical: Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. Epic Mickey 2 is the first video game to use songs to drive the story forward, and one of the lead characters (the mad doctor) only communicated via song. Signature Theatre Company's (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) production of THE PIANO LESSON by August Wilson and directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson is now in rehearsal.
