Longtime theatrical colleagues Alan Wasser, Allan Williams, Aaron Lustbader and Mark Shacket announced today the formation of Foresight Theatrical LLC, a new company which will provide general management and executive producing services for Broadway, off-Broadway, touring theatrical productions and other live entertainment.

Two time Tony Award-winning Goodspeed Musicals has just announced the cast of the new musical The Great American Mousical, to be directed by Julie Andrews. This developmental production will run November 8 - December 2, 2012 at The Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Connecticut. The Great American Mousical will be sponsored by Essex Meadows. Two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz and Katie Holmes are currently in rehearsals for DEAD ACCOUNTS, the new comedy by Pulitzer Prize finalist Theresa Rebeck, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien also starring Judy Greer, Josh Hamilton, and two-time Tony Award nominee Jayne Houdyshell. Sloan Foundation Initiative commissions for Manhattan Theatre Club. This year's six commissioned writers are April de Angelis (Jumpy), Nick Jones (The Coward), Heidi Schreck (Creature), Melissa Ross (Thinner Than Water), Sarah Treem (A Feminine Ending), and Bess Wohl (Barcelona).

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) will begin previews for the New York premiere production of GIANT, an epic love story with book by Sybille Pearson and music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa, on Friday, October 26. Directed by Michael Greif, GIANT runs through Sunday, December 2 in The Public's Newman Theater at its Astor Place home, with an official press opening on Tuesday, November 13. According to the American Theatre Critics Association, Howard Shapiro, a long-time theatre critic from the Philadelphia Inquirer, has parted ways with the publication. On October 1, the Inquirer reassigned the Broadway critic to South Jersey coverage, after deciding that a full-time theater writer was no longer needed. Shapiro will continue as a theatre critic for Broadway productions with The Classical Network.

Happy Birthday Hugh Jackman! Jackman will next be seen in the role of Jean Valjean in the upcoming and highly anticipated Les Misérables film. Jackman is also working on Broadway's Harry Houdini, set for the stage in 2013. He has also appeared on the Great White Way in Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway, A Steady Rain and The Boy From Oz. He played Curly in the West End's Oklahoma!, and appeared in an Off-Broadway production of Carousel, along with hosting the Tony Awards three times.
